...I don't think this is mid 00's anime. ^^' I mean, the color scheming is, but the drawings themselves are more like 90's anime...Triska looks like a Team Rocket reject design. XD I think I'm getting close to an art style I like, though, even if it's not what I was initially going for. I'll keep working on it...

Anyway, how about some character intros? I don't have much yet, but (from left to right):

Triska (Voice: Saki AI)
Captain of the 35th Division’s Chromatica Special Operatives Squad...basically, the official leader of the group.
Triska started out as the archetypical 'arrogant anime girl', but once I started giving some thought to her character, I ended up liking her a lot more than I expected. She IS arrogant, and kind of a control freak, but in a neurotic way that makes you sympathize with her a bit. ^^' Like, it's clear that she doesn't have quite as much authority in practice as she does on paper, so she's always scrambling to keep her troops in line.
She also has a lot of family issues...she's insanely jealous of her 'little brother' (Noel) and desperate for the approval of her mother...who is also her superior officer. Depending on how the story plays out, these insecurities may lead her to do something drastic...I'm still thinking~

Qimorin (Voice: Tsurumaki Maki)
The 35th Division's star songstress, responsible for using her voice to power the base's generators.
Qimo is your average everyday 'pure cinnamon roll' character (complete with a sad backstory). ^^' She's a bit of an airhead, but she's courageous and she speaks her mind...I think she has the potential to become a truly interesting character if I work on her some more.
In what little of the story exists at the moment, she will be the first character Cerca meets after her capture...to sort of lull her and the player into a false sense of security, I suppose. :9

Arl (Voice: Saki)
The Chromatica Squad's newest member before Cerca. Energetic, but very responsible.
Arl was designed to be Cerca's 'rival'...a bit of a weird role, considering their situation. But I think it'll work well to illustrate the nature of the 'empire', how people like him who were raised within it think of themselves as the heroes. I'm looking forward to writing more about him, and allowing him and Cerca to learn from each other.

Noel (Voice: GENBU)
An artificial life-form (?) created for a special purpose. Probably the most famous member of the Chromatica Squad, and the 35th Division as a whole.
Despite his looks, Noel really is around the same age as the other characters (and younger than his 'big sister', Triska). I designed him to be this tall, dark, foreboding antagonist character, but now that I've thought more about what his life must have been like, I think he's probably a very innocent and lonely person.
He follows orders, but he's not cruel, and it wouldn't be hard for someone he trusted to convince him to switch sides...that's Cerca's job~

Cerca (Voice: Koharu Rikka)
The main character. ^^ A girl who rolls with the punches and never gives up. She's very used to lying and spying and sneaking around, thanks to growing up as a smuggler.
Cerca is still pretty flat right now, but I like her (somehow, my drawings of her always come out looking the best~). I think if I start writing for her, and get a chance to play around with the more lackadaisical side of her personality, she'll gradually become more unique.
Most protagonist girls of her type are very innocent and have clear-cut morals...that's not Cerca, though. ^^' She is kind and friendly (almost deceptively so), but she's flexible when it comes to 'right' and 'wrong', and nothing much surprises her anymore...which leads her to be impulsive and reckless when maybe she shouldn't be. Like when she's a child soldier being held prisoner in a military base. 6u6; Anyway, I look forward to making her a fun protagonist~

Well, now that I've gotten these preliminary designs out of my system...all that's left to do is let the idea rest for a while and see what my mind comes up with. Hopefully next time I draw these kids, whenever that is, I'll have much better art to show. Till then~
