Oh it's less harajuku! You don't see me in a colorful outfit, now, do you? This piece is Lolita, in a sense that it is partly Lolita as a fashion, and yes, somewhat alluding to Nabokov's Lolita.

more of the actual classy harajuku.. feminine..

somehow it turned into something crazy.. probably because of the harajuku shopping district and now any girl dressing odd in japan is known as a "harajuku girl"

And really, as demonstrated by your initial reaction (not lolita, more harajuku), you've shown that your concern is the fashion when the photo is actually more than about the clothes. My entire gallery is about Lolita, and I do know that this isn't as Lolita, if I subscribe to it as a fashion. But I still felt calling it Lolita, because it somehow evoked the Lolita of Nabokov, which, quite ironically, is considered taboo by fashion enthusiasts of the same name.

yeah I can still feel that innocence. Like I said, the whole heart shaped sun glasses and lollipops. Lolita means a lot of things. My friend used to make fun of me because I dress lolita and apparently it means mexican child porn.. @_@ It's more than a fasion, a way of life or any of that. BUT EITHER WAY, I STILL LOVE YOUR PHOTOS they are lovely :3

No, this is Lolita as suspended between the bright, carefree innocence of a girl and the darker, sensual seriousness of a woman. This is the Lolita of Nabokov, and not the movie, really.
As for the fashion, I sincerely think it is somewhat classic, as most of my friends pointed out.

I think she means the style "lolita", not the novel.
The 1962 movie was good though. Sadly I haven't met too many people who have seen it.
