Thank you dear Léana,
you will seldomly find a plain blue sky in my paintings... although it was totally blue that clear day down in the Esterel area.
however... there was that slight gradation from darker blue to somewhat lighter towards the horizon... but the strong octoberlight was really vibrant and in that sense magical.
So my solution was to blend blues in minimally shifting hues in several layers of gouache with a fairly dry brush... this creates that texture. Please mind that the Strathmore paper I am using is very fine with nearly no structure in the surface (good for gouache)
Have a nice day!
cheers
// Dominik

Love those dry brush stokes. Nice color temp. as well - I can feel the warmth of the sun.

Charming! You have created such an impression of sun and wind. I remember visiting Agay many years ago, and that's what is was like then, too.

Greetings from Uelzen. Looked at the train station, thought of you and had to grin!

well yeah,... 5x8" is a small space... but I actually just want to suggest detail.
If you look prudently it's often just loose brushstrokes.
Great pleasure that you like it Trevor
cheers
