My first visit after landing at the airport will be to stand before the magnificent monument of Александар Сар Македонски!

I'm hypnotized!! Spectacular! Must have been breath-taking to behold in true-life I was supposed to visit Macedonia this summer, but I sadly and regretfully had to cancel, but I am determined to go. Ти благодарам за фото!

Well you should come, there is lot to see, especially now, when they are almost done rebuilding our capital city, the city square is completely revamped and all sorts of monuments and buildings and halls around are set. It looks way way cooler than it used to do.

Well, it looks like a simple postcard to me, nothing special. The camera doesn't add to the real quality of the photograph, just to its resolution.

DonJas In reply to AlisaTamna [2012-03-10 23:09:03 +0000 UTC]

Well, it does add to the actual quality. Not just the resolution, it does big difference in noise, dynamic range. Tho, I apriciate your opinion. The point on the photo is to capture the view from that very spot. Which is amazing in my opinion.

The view IS stunning, and if all you were going for was 'oh, look, he has a cool camera and a bit cooler hill with a view of lights in the city' then you succeeded. But if you meant this to look like art, you blew it.

Point is, I am far from cool camera, not even middle cool. It is the very basic DSLR, with the default lens, nothing special.

Maybe we just have different definition of art. As I see your photography style and mine are quite different, that would be all neighbor.

While we are near photography, I went through your gallery, and I think you still have a lot to learn, especially when it comes to proportions, main subject/bacground, rule of thirds, and so on. I'd advice you to read a little more on this topics, as you have the eye, and the feel, but you lack skills. And don't go all with that thought, I need a better camera bla bla. I started photography with just my phone. Nothin' more. Educate yourself, it is the least you can do, you'll see that you'll get lotta better quite fast.

Thats all I have to say.

I love how people stick to the rule of thirds like it's the Bible of photography... There's much more to it than just rules.
Since I only have my phone, any real camera looks fancy, and I'm deeply sorry if that offended you.
I don't think I'll ever change my mind about this little artwork of yours, so have a nice day, neighbour.

I don't want you to change your mind, I want you to open it, that's all. Rule of thirds is made with an excellent purpose, and works perfectly as long we humans have 2 eyes. Read a little more about it, and why it is rule of thirds, not persay, forhts or fifths

Thank you, and don't let that stop you, keep practising, keep shooting. You'll improve Also keep in mind that luck plays a great part in photography, i was lukcy to had my tripod with me this time here, without it, I would not be able to shoot this photo, actually the 6 of them which i stitched together

SolarLunix In reply to DonJas [2012-03-09 03:44:45 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I wondered how you did it!

Yeah, I'll keep at it, I just need to get myself a better camera. I get so upset because I don't have manual focus, which I've found comes in handy!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DonJas In reply to SolarLunix [2012-03-09 03:46:15 +0000 UTC]

Manual focus doesn't come in handy, manual focus is something you won't be able to stop using when you practise it a bit. It just gives whole another feel to photography itself.

SolarLunix In reply to DonJas [2012-03-09 03:50:38 +0000 UTC]

I do video with my church, I would've died without the use of manual focus! I did some awesome shots, I might make some freeze frames and post them on DA. When I have time. :3

I am going to ask everyone to chip in for a good camera for my birthday. I'm a little sick of my auto focus. It's messed me up a few times - and ruined my shot a few times.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DonJas In reply to SolarLunix [2012-03-09 03:52:26 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I know the feeling, when it just wont focus where you want it to focus, or you think it focused where you wanted, then you see it, totally failed.
Get an DSLR, you'll never regret it. They got kinda cheap lately, if not new, you can get great ones little used for 300 euro max

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SolarLunix In reply to DonJas [2012-03-09 14:35:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the problem with that too is that it could be a once and done shot, like you only get ONE chance to get it, and then you don't have that chance anymore.

DSLR, for 300 euro, huh... well I wonder how much that costs in America...
