They call them cowbirds because these birds hang out around cows and horses so they can eat the insects they stir up when they move around.

I see they're the guys who lay their eggs in other birds nest and let the other mom raise them...I wonder how that got started? Maybe they don't realize they're cowbirds since their mom wasn't...it must be a really confusing life..

Yes they do. Haha, who knows how that got started. I think the bird babies who actually do get to hatch and aren't tossed over the side in their eggs or their eggs cracked open so they don't survive, are probably like the TRex dinosaur baby on Dino Train, who was born to a family of Pteranodons, he knows he can't fly, but still thinks he's one of them (I watch way too much little kid's tv now)! I'm sure that there are many mixed families of birds
