mostly delusional (but then again that ties into him being abusive since he was just unawARE--) he was.... the most delusional little fuck of a boy, and it really tore into Heide hard. I mean a lot did, the isolation and the abuse and just feeling like she was talking to herself when it came to confronting jules??
Cuz at least now he SORT of responds??? obvi he was being hella vague and was sort of out of it when carm confronted him in chap 20, but he still give SOME sort of answers and even asked her "what do you want?" which is a HELL of a lot more than he gave Heide.

He REALLY didn't understand a single thing. That Heide venting about her family wasn't a fucking invitation, that you don't fucking keep someone captive, that you don't toy with/abuse/fucking almost eat people, and why she was understandably horrified with all that. Ofc the first day she was breaking down and screaming and just begging, and it got worse as the days flew by because she started realizing that time was passing by and she hasn't "woken up", jules hasn't "changed his mind"
and she was being toyed with and abused, like he did so many fucked shit to her, and she was only like ten and suddenly having her life ripped away from her, having her limbs near ripped off and put in someones mouth and getting squished and getting tossed in the air and getting talked down to like?????
so then even bigger outbursts and screaming and crying and pleading, just so scared to death of how she was gonna inevitably get hurt this time and just wanting so fucking desperately for this nightmare to be over

And Julien is just in his own little world. She was essentially talking to herself.

He was so smitten with Heide (or rather, owning her) and finally getting to play with not a toy, but a fucking living bEING, one that will be with him forever and forever, and he was so mega happy and excited that he was so incapable of seeing beyond that. Once it started settling in "ok ok i'm calm now lol" (getting to own more than one and just getting used to it in general (he treats them more like people than he did before)) Heide had already lost herself it'd been too long.

Jules was a KID.
That's basically where it's all started up so fucked up. He was a CHILD.

He's become more aware, he's able to recognize better when they're scared/uncomfortable around him (hence why he avoided carm for so long (tho a lot of it has to do with his own discomfort))
obviously tho, it's not enough. it just isn't. just basically worst to bad

This sort of happened with Kyle too? But Jules was a lot more "oh... um.... ok...." due to the fact that Kyle had clearly taken some huge blows due to the shot

Again there's another ask on the topic of crying!! i just felt like doing a two parter again lol, so we will be getting the rest with that one ;w;
