I drew this for a friends birthday today. photo was taken with a flash so not my best as flash erases all shading and shadows from everything so finding facial contours is really hard so it's not my best work but it was fun and i'm ok with how it turned out. and yeah i still can't draw hair :/Related content

Yeah I know what you mean with flash. Everytime I take a picture and the flash is on, I rage a little ^_^.
And man... This is amazing. Don't critique yourself before others do. You say you can't draw hair. I actually think the hair looks amazing. You did a terrific job all around. The eyes are really good. The eye lashes look a bit weird though. I can't figure out why. But again, this looks amazing. Keep up the good work.

aha thanks man . but yeah i've progressed quite steadily in all areas over the past year but i just can't seem to advance with hair and as for her eyelashes she had very heavily applied mascara that was clumpy in the photo so i just did as best i could with it. could have used lower value pencil looking at it now but oh well

You're welcome! I can't say how much you've progressed since this is the first work of yours that I have seen. I still think you are doing great with the hair, if you could show me your ref image, I would try to compare the two, but the hair and eyes are why I clicked on it. I'm not good with hair [link] , but that was the first human I have ever drawn. Yeah I understand now about the eyelashes. Maybe they were too symmetrical? Yeah I think a lighter pencil could have solved your problem. I need to find my pencils lol. You're welcome! keep up the good work!
