Description Pendant made from a carved deer antler tip and a knapped obsidian point. Beeswax finish. About 1-1/2 inches long. The point is in a fitted slot and held with a slurry of glue and red glass microbeads (not visible from the front, and just barely visible in the back view).

On the left is an oblique view of the back; on the right is a straight-on view of the front. The obsidian point was made by *DanielAPierce whose work I highly recommend.

I love obsidian and antler, and you made a beautiful item from my two favourite nonferrous materials.

And I'm convinced that used as shaft head, it would fly perfectly!

The obsidian is indeed quite well balanced.

I looked at the thumbnail and thought 'Oh, lovely, what a great way to slice my chest open'.

Then I saw the whole image and felt silly for doubting you (and your collaborators by extension).

Right. If I got a proper obsidian slicing edge I'd have Nicole Loxley make a leather holder for it to avoid any accidental slice-age; and if it were this size, I'd put a control-grip handle on it.

That you would. *1,000 pardons*

Let me be clear. You were contrite about something that would actually not have offended me, and I was just making conversation on the subject. I have read that some eye surgeons use obsidian blades because steel scalpels can't be made that sharp; and that _is_ something I think of whenever I am about to handle anything obsidian that looks like it might have an edge. I'm sorry if I seemed offended.

And now let me be clear- I didn't think you were. Knew I should have put a giggle emoticon on the end of that last one.

Damn it, me of 7.5 hours ago, get your situation TOGETHER!

I fear that this is a case of the dreaded "light-hearted irony transmission failure". Or something like that.

There should be some sort of error screen for that, I think.

Very nice work! I also like how the flintknapper ground the edges of the obsidian down so they weren't so sharp

The edges aren't ground, they are chipped to shape, but they are indeed not cut-yourself-on-it sharp.
