This show a level of maturity. In the land of irons the younger him may have been all over Sakura after that false confession, but he didn't. He remember Sakura true feelings and he's has a point people shouldn't lie to themself. And another thing this show you could change a person point a view in life, but you can't change a person feeling for someone else.

Acceptance "implies" moving on. If Naruto believes Sakura loves Sasuke to the point where his feeling will never be returned and he accepts this then the only natural (aka not contrived) character development for him is to move on.

For the promesse that Naruto made to Sakura, Sai reproached that to Sakura, she cried because she realized the pain that Naruto had because of it. That's the reason of the fake declaration. But the fake declaration was not the solution... ^^' If Naruto would realized later that her confession was fake he would have suffer more, she didn't thought of it ^^' But Naruto is not stupid, he know that she love Sasuke, fortunately.

Just because Sakura loved Sasuke then doesn't means she still feels the same for him now even Kakashi said so and if Naruto really has moved on then why did he just say to his dad that Sakura's his girlfriend and throughout shippuden he still loves Sakura he even said it to sai do you honestly believe Naruto will stop loving Sakura and move on to Hinata that quickly? Besides all Hinata did was restore Naruto's belief in himself , he hasn't moved on from Sakura the narusaku moments after this prove it. Let's also not forget the anti Sasusaku moments too Sasuke made it clear that he doesn't care about Sakura that she was useless and would let her die
