Description Joey is left pinned to and MRI, looking very worn out indeed with the biggest baddy of the ward looking on. Can we say cliffhanger anyone?

If you didn't get it, that was the ginger haired monster we were hearing in the third and fourth panels. The door is ajar so Joey could hear them coming down the hall. You could see her sneaking out of the room a couple pages ago.

And now that you are finished reading my entry, you should totally go read my awesome opponent 's. It is wonderfully satirical and, if possible, even bloodier than this one.

Dude. DUDE.
This watercolor thing is GORGEOUS. In the way that blood, grime, and undeath is gorgeous.

Maybe it shoulda been expected in a battle between two things that can't die, but I was still happily surprised each time I opened the next page to find what new bit of violence was exchanged between them. And what creative violence it was! I think... "OHS#!T" sign bludgen is my favorite. Joey stapled to the floor... and to Nobistu's chest... would be a close second.

Best of luck, man. I'm excited to see what comes next... things could either go really well or really badly for Joey from here. :>

I'm glad you liked it. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with a dark and twisted sense of humor closeted away where no one can see. Well, actually in this case where everyone can see but still. You get the picture. Thanks for the comments. Lets just hope I can pull it off.

holy crap J, your comics amaze me! Seriously, HOW do you do it? are you using photoshop, or are using paints and what not? and where the hell do you get those brilliant ideas for the twists and turns in the fights?! a MAGNET! dude! i would have never even considered a giant magnet!

i guess what i'm asking for is advice on actually drawing the comic. for example, how how do you draw your panel lines? i can get them to be straight, but not like yours. and same with your backgrounds. mine always look like someone spilled water on them then tried to mop it up with a cactus. DX your backgrounds are always so realistic with just the perfect touch of colour. not to mention how smooth and perfect your line art is. any bit of advice from you would be a huge help to someone like me!

Answers for you my dearie...
Usually I use photoshop CS2 however going home for the holiday's means this installment was done in watercolor. I start out by scripting EVERYTHING. The whole storyline down to their facial expressions. While i do this I heave about half the page empty. Then I go back and in the free space figure out how each page should have it's panels positioned with itty bitty sketches. I pre-treat my comic book paper with any tints or textures i want throughout the whole comic, then I copy the mini sketches onto my paper in pencil. Finally I Ink it in with ultra fine tip sharpie. And add colors and shadow with watercolor.
My border lines in this comic were first penciled in, then painted on with a small brush and black ink.

The only advice i can give is know what you are going to do before you do it, and practice as much as you can to build up your finger dexterity.

As for twists and inspirations, the best inspiration you will ever have is the world around you.

Duuude, this match was sweet! It had a great blend of funny and actual fighting type stuff, plus the art's really, really pretty this round. Your traditional stuff's really cool looking. And heh, this really is the Round of the Monsters.
So yeh, really good job! Good luck!

Aw man, I really enjoyed this round, the beginning was a little hard to understand but I picked it up really quickly as I read the following pages. The panels showed a smooth course of action and I really loved the small pieces of humor here and there. And I just love your coloring style.

I hope you make it to the next round!

Lookin' good there, Nobistu....
And Joey doesn't even get his hand back

I gotta say, your matches are wonderfully creative with how you can make a zombie defeat things far far more powerful than him by using the environment and their own strengths against then.

Wow. That was...epic.

I actually liked this one a bit better than the last one (betcha weren't expecting that from me the anti-gore girl). Mainly for the fact that nothing was nearly as disturbing as the one girl who was...eh...the one who died in the last comic. After that, none of this seemed as bad. That's the nice thing about immortals ands zombies; significantly less blood and carnage, and electrocution is not nearly as graphic as carnage. And the fact that no one lost a limb helped. (Splintered bones...not...happy...*twitch*)

(And you're probably wondernig at this point, "If she can't handle carnage, why is she reading this?" Because I like Joey, and because I like your art. I didn't say all of my reasoning makes sense. )

And I love the ginger-haired monster and the fact that she brought Malaria to help Joey because she thought he was one of the monsters of the place. Very awesome cliffhanger ending. Also, I congratulate you, because I think I would have completely lost my mind trying to get 17 pages of comic (AND COLORED, NO LESS) done in a month. Along w/ working on an entry for another tournament. You desreve a medal, my friend. Or at least a doughnut or something.

And now we should probably ALL GO TO SLEEP (oh my word it's 2 in the morning here). Good luck on this round, Doodles! Hope you win!

Awww. Thankage for the wonderfully long comment. I like this round a ton too. I'm glad you're getting over the squeamishness. As for the sleep, that is a great Idea. Here in Delaware it is 2:00 as well.

You're very welcome! ^^ Glad you're enjoying the tournament. Eh, it's more like I'm just ignoring it, haha.
Ahh, we nightwalkers have a terrible time getting to bed at a decent hour, don't we. I was up way too late last night because I found a site that shows the first few episodes of a FoxKids show I used to love in the 90s.
