Anyway as most of you know, the Pirate!AU is very different from canon!Equestria. Another big example is here Fluttershy was born a full blooded batpony. She was smuggled in a basket over the Nightmare border with her parents and baby brother and taken to the outskirts of the Twilight kingdom for a better life.

Flutters and Soarin met around the age of 8 or 9 and became close friends. Soarin belonged to a very poor, big foster family but grew up to be third in command for the Wonderbolts(pegasi military). He and Fluttershy married very young and had their firstborn Whistle Tune a few years after.

An attack on their village happened one day and the parents were separated from their two year old. Whistle was found and raised by hippogriff pirates; meanwhile Fluttershy and Soarin disappeared and their whereabouts are unknown to this day.
