Description Don't know why I made this. I should be animating.
I guess I'm THAT upset about Wreck-It Ralph not winning the Oscar. Either that or Paranorman.
I'll scrap this later.

What about Frankenweenie?  I know Pirates wouldn't have won (still good though), but how can Brave beat Ralph?  How can something that's like Freaky Friday beat something that's like Who Framed Roger Rabbit??

If both of them have the same plot of mother daughter brain swap, then it doesn't matter.

Don't blame Merida for this one. The real culprits here are the Oscar voters who gave the award to Brave out of routine.

Disney's lost to Pixar so many times at the Oscars... You'd think them switching formulas for the year would change that, but no. The Oscars' mistreatment of Disney is just unforgivable. Remember when Randy Newman actually did some different music for once with Princess and the Frog? That music didn't win anything. A year later, Newman went back his same tired music style for Toy Story 3 and won an Oscar! The fact that he even said PatF's music style would've never won just enrages me... And poor Tangled... It wasn't nominated for Best Animated Feature at all! It was a MUCH better CG fairy tale than Brave was. Pixar even made it not get any Annie nominations because of an idiotic protest they were doing.

I swear, if Frozen doesn't beat Pixar's stupid attempt at a college film next year, I'm gonna break some faces...

Actually Frozen doesn't sound too thrilling either. I think the award will go to a non-Disney studio.

I don't mind that Pixar's past wins at the Oscar. It's just that with Brave, it was the first time it felt like they didn't deserve to win.

I could turn out to be another Tangled, so just wait and see.

Brave was fine, but Ralph was just better.

I really wasn't impressed with Brave. It had pretty designs and the hair on the main character was amazing but for the most part I totes agree that Wreck it Ralph blew the pants off of Pixars movie. I also quite enjoyed paranorman and find that movie was also better than brave. Out of the three movies I think that wreck it ralph was probably my favorite. Wreck it Ralph was my favorite from last year followed by my second favorite rise of the guardians.

Heard that quiet a bit of money goes in "game on" to win the oscars problem is when you run out of tokens.

Let me remind you, that "Paperman" DID won an Oscar for best animated short.

I admit, I was dissapointed, when "Brave" won.
Do I hate it? Absoultely not. It was just not very strong, great flick, unlike "Paranorman" and of course "Wreck-It-Ralph".

Turquoisephoenix [2013-02-27 01:38:47 +0000 UTC]

Haha, Ralph's face was my face watching the Oscars this year. Seth McFarlane and them trying to cover up the Life of Pi protest going on outside did not help either.
I'll be honest and admit that it was a really tight race this year (2012 was an awesome year for animation), but there were way stronger candidates and it feels like the Academy just went with the safe, Oscar-bait, feel-good flick instead of the movies that took more risks like Paranorman.

Ah well. At least Ralph has his many, many Annie awards to keep him company.

I think Wreck it Ralph should've won, mainly because Brave was soo mediocre. Yes, I haven't seen WiR yet and feel ashamed in my geek/nerd soul...

This pretty much sums up my sentiments regarding last night's Oscars.

I really wanted either Wreck-it-Ralph or ParaNorman to win best animated feature, but I was fairly sure that Brave was going to win. I've been watching the Oscars and following the film industry long enough to notice a few things, and one of those things is that the Academy adores PIXAR. If a PIXAR film is up for an award at the Academy Awards, nine times out of ten it's going to win, whether or not it actually was the best of the nominees. I've actually seen all of this year's best animated feature nominees(this was a great year for animated films) and I would frankly say that Brave was probably the weakest of all the films that was up for animated feature. Brave had some pretty animation, but that's really all it had, it's story wasn't anything special. By contrast, all of the other nominees had really strong, well done stories as well as great animation.

And the nominees are: "Totally original story" or "Over used plot" and the winner is "Over Used Plot"

Not really a fan of ParaNorman, but I was definitely upset that Brave won over Wreck It Ralph.

WIR just had a better story, and as a whole, it felt more like a traditional Pixar movie than Brave the Princess movie did.

Okay, I was disappointed Brave won too, but, I'm not gonna blow it way out of proportion and act like Pixar rigged the awards to ensure they would win again. Besides, as awesome as Wreck-It Ralph was, it wouldn't exist if not for John Lasseter. I'm not gonna say Brave is a great movie, because it isn't, and both Ralph and Norman were definitely more deserving, but I'm not gonna use this as an excuse to hate on Pixar. At least Paperman won.
