Description DORIEKE'S ANIME EYE COLORING TUTORIAL!!
1 as you can see there's nothing to this step then simple lineart. you can do it! come on! do it!!

2 put flat colors in the lineart. i'd advice on the layer underneath! white for the eyeball, some other base color for the iris.

3 with a somewhat darker color, but not black, draw the pupil and a moon crescent shaped shadow in the iris

4 with the dodge tool, lighten up a crescent shape in the base color area

5 with a black big airbrush, place a shadow beneath the upper eye lid, and an extra on in the iris. this will add depth to the eye

6 fun part! add in the pretty anime highlights! use as much or as little as you want! you can make stars, circles, triangles, make little hearts if you wanna!

well, excuse my bad english... i hope this will help someone out there!!

excactly the way I do it most of the time!! Though I often use some more different shades for the pupil, depending on the size of the picture and the amount of detail I'm putting in. Most often I take:

1 base color
3 darker shades
2 lighter shades
White(or almost white version of the base color) for the highlights

I rarely use the dodge tool (I don't like using it for eyes that much), but I have to say this ( the way explained by Dorieke) is the best way for oekaki eyes, while mine concentrates more on photoshop (or the like).
Another complement on the clearness and simpleness of the tutorial! to me it is completely transparant

no problem

I didn't find anything wrong with the English on this one. (And trust me ,I know English, too well for my own good. ^~) It's straight and to the point, and I actually picked something up from it. I like it. I'll have to try using that dodge tool some more; I use the Color Dodge and Burn blending modes now and then, but I really don't use any tools to color besides brushes, the paint bucket, and smudging. I'm also going to actually try and add shadows for eyelids, after seeing this, too.

really? shading the eyelids? thats brave! i never do that unless im stupid enough to focus all of the attention on the eyelid when there are 6 of them really zoomed in on a tiny image

thanks or the comment!

No problem! My manga has a lot of close-ups for the fight scenes, so anything to help make the eyes more intense would be great. That's why I'd actually try it. ^^
