Description Captured this one during our Exmouth holidays.  I really liked the colours.

You have such amazing and wonderful moths in your country...
I think this one is  Eudocima materna (Noctuidae), a moth that can pierce fruits with its strong proboscis in order to suck the juice.

Thank you for the education.  I had been wondering what it is, but find it usually too hard to look it up in books.  I never seem to be able to find a unique match...

For me it is not just the moths, but birds, fish, flowers etc as well.  I usually don't even know where to start looking, biology was not one of my strengths at school...  But looking at the moths I might actually be able to manage, there are not quite as many there
