Description I had this sitting in my computer for a while - so I figured it was high time to submit it I do have a colored version started - I just haven't been able to finish it yet.

Here is Quasimodo - or at least my take of him - from Victor Hugo's novel "Notre Dame de Paris". His hair is particularly fun hehe.

I gave him this expression as if he's like "What the crap are you looking at?"

To me, this expression looks more like he is focusig on something, or trying to sort out a highly complex issue. Wonderful interpretation!

I am reading the book now and I love this vision you've drawn. I don't get the handsome Quasimodo pictures on here. It takes away what he is and why he is the way he is. The most impressive part about your drawing is he looks his age despite all the deformities. This is going in my favorites for sure.

Thanks so much for the wonderful comment!! I'm glad I pulled the age thing off. It is definitely a challenge to do it while trying to draw someone that is so disfigured.

Wow, a drawing of Quasimodo that actually makes him look like he's twenty! That's awesome. I also like that you drew him with an angry expression. Don't get me wrong, I still love the Disney version, as inaccurate as it is, but Quasimodo was a lot angrier in the book. (He looks like he's in the mood for pitching Jehan off the cathedral in this picture. )

I'm also digging his crazy hair. It's very punk rock. Great job!

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like the picture

I agree with you there hehe!!! I found it hard to see a Quasimodo true to the book where he looks 20. I also love the Disney version - I love Tom Hulce's voice. I figured he'd have messy hair considering I doubt he had a comb to brush it with every day XD Glad you like it!

Totally. I like the Charles Laughton version, but he looks closer to forty than twenty. d:

And yes, Tom Hulce has the Cutest Voice in the History of Everβ„’.

heheh... I love his expression. da book is awesome

I found that his philosephy towards other people (simply put) was, "They hat me, so I hate them; Screw them all! " lol so many mis-comunications... too bad Esmeralda was kinda stupid lol

Finally, a portrayal of him as a 'cyclops!' It's hard to find people who've read the real story as opposed to watched the movie. I just finished the book the other day and never saw the Disney movie, yet I am shocked to hear how the movie went; it's a completely different story!
Back on topic... good drawing.

Thanks so much for the nice words! I'm glad you like the picture

If I remember right - I saw the Disney movie when it came out in 1996 before I read Victor Hugo's book. Once I got hooked on the story and this character in particular, I read the original story..then hunted down as many different versions as possible.

It's cool to see different versions and portrayals of the character. The Disney movie is a good one on its own - and the music is beautiful. The sequel does not hold a candle to the original animated film.

Like someone else mentioned, it is wonderful to see a more realistic portrayal of our dear hunchback (and one that it's Disney-esque).

It's also good that you made him the right age (early 20s) as opposed to all the 35+ Quasimodo's out there. Nice job with including his protruding, uneven teeth and cleft chin, these features are often omitted for some reason.

Yay! Thanks so much for the nice comment! I'm glad you like the pic.

I agree - there's not enough realistic Quasimodo's out there (film or art) that portray him at his true age.

Yay! I'm glad you like! I'm currently trying to color it - but it takes me forever. I have no idea how digital painters on here can whip up a painted pic that looks SO awesome in a short amount of time. I suppose it's just practice and knowledge of the program.

I've been really busy with school projects so I haven't had a lot of free time to mess around with the colors too much. It's little bits at a time!
