Description Body forms. Series 3.1

"If our mind is shaped by our experiences, so too, our body shaped by our repeated actions. The uselesness of the body builders craft is akin to the mental agility of little practical application enjoyed by the 'idiot savant'. To have our form shaped though, by the obsessions that we undertake, is to create a wonderful landscape to explore. To enjoy the naked form as art is to grow beyond the human desires we feel. And thus we open up a whole new world of beauty, hitherto only seen as stimulus" - Doug

That capture strongly reminds me of the good old leni riefenstahl style - professional, I must admit!

I agree about the bits of her that are off the platform. A hint of the human blood running through her statuesque body. I love the lines of her neck and face. And of course her exquisitely chiseled legs.

i just love how she's not restricted to the platform and even though her strong form is perfect... she seems to have the inner freedom to drip ever so elegantly from her platform...

..that didn't sound too rude did it?

just gorgeous work - again i really think there is so much negative space i lose the figure - and i'd love for the grey background to have jsut a tiny bit of tone change to stand out a bit more - you almost lose the image into hte background

these are just gorgeous work

Thanks hon. The grey and space issues will rumble on but taste is what it is I sopent a fortune on Agfa Scala film to achieve the bereft tonality. I hear what you are saying on the notion but I often wonder on DA how much is made for screen and how much for print,. I can only tell you tyhat these are drop dead gorgeous on paper where the depth of colour is even greater and the nuances dont get lost.

I took it all the right way Mary, dont worry. I love it when we are questioned, its only then that we question ourselves I need to send you the A3 print. It all makes more sense then

Really great pose !

Like a lot the details of her legs here, shows so nicely the muscles.
And the position of head is also really good.
The pose overall gives feeling of strong but still relaxed pose.
Light are great, gives just enough shadows to her body.

I love the sheer strength of her muscles and yet that whip cord strength also shows a subtle softness too, something which I find very attractive about a womans form. Purely as art, (trying for a change to rise out of the 'idiotic savant' stage ) I . uh . can't really express the abstract thoughts it inspires. Mostly I love the feeling inside that this piece is about to move, love the pure use of grey tones, no pure white or black to be viewed anyway.

One thing thought for me, even though the piece is exceptional, I find I lose the sharpness of the eye's focus on the woman. I found that when I scrolled down the page and in effect reduced the image to a letter box shape that the focus became more on her. For this piece I think its losing its impact due to a little too much negative space. You make your mind up but for me I love it, but view it in a letter box shape for optimal viewing pleasure for me

Fabulous work honey .. love the way you are following a similar ish pattern to * signalbox with his Light & Form series. More please more ..

The photographer who turned sculptor.
I'm speechless again, because you created something that goes beyond words.
The way you lit her is awe inspiring (I didn't want to use awesome, mind you) and the background is sublime.
If I ever saw a world in various shades of grey then this is the one I want. I want to eat it, every pixel

Doug,

I'm still trying to take them all in I relate to this more personally, maybe it's perspective or shapes....definitely the feeling with which it was created. It's amazing human's can shape their very body.... with mere thought.

This is another fine example of your work, another presentation of both strength and grace. The movement is wonderful, her muscles so powerful looking, and her left hand so delicately placed on the corner, creating strong balance.

Beautiful work on this expressive photo, sweetie!

i especially love the position of her head and the way it shows her neck... necks are sexy
did you think about the model's position before shooting or is a spontaneous thing??? cause the postions are very unique
