I have a bird feeder hanging on a branch of a crab apple tree, and there are lots of shrubs and other trees around it. They usually land on a near by branch before going to the feeder and then back to a branch with their new found seed to eat it. I set up the tripod and camera a couple feet away and then zoom in on a branch when they land. They don't seem to mind me standing there. Chickadees aren't shy at all. When I fill the feeder they are so anxious to get at the seeds they will land on my hand if I stand quiet and hold out my hand with the seeds in it. They are most busy at the feeder in the late afternoon and just before sunset.

Thanks very much Rebecca. Chickadees are so much fun to watch. They never sit still for long. I have a feeder set up outside my dining room window. I would love to photograph a cardinal. We don't have them here.
