if you scroll down to the section that says Trivia they even say how cosmo stole kirlia's look. When you think about it it's not all that surprising though, the creators of Pokemon and Sonic (Nintendo and SEGA) have been at war with each other just like coke and pepsi ever since SEGA made sonic to compete with Nintendo's Mario.
