Sadly, Chaney's only talky and last film. It was a remake of a silent film. Ironically, he died of throat cancer soon after the movie was made. Probably (had he lived) he'd have been a successful transitional star into talkies (his voice sounded fine in the movie). The rumor is that he would have been playing Dracula in 1931, not Lugosi.

It was a great loss to film that such a talented man as Chaney didn't live to enjoy stardom in the "talkies". Strangely it's as if his star was to shine in the silent film era and shine brightly it certainly does. I urge anybody who has yet to view one of his films to acquire one and see what Chaney was all about as an Actor. Another interesting film is the Hollywood tribute film starring James Cagney as Chaney, "The Man Of A Thousand Faces".
