Description
(As a note, I killed a pen for this, but am pleased.)When the night is moonless and children are put to bed, they place charms to ward off bad dreams. In reality, these charms are peace offerings to the Darkness Pokemon, Darkrai. Virtually a god of nightmares, Darkrai loves nothing more but to torment humans with hellish dreams and visions. No one has every seen Darkrai outside of the dream realm, but many each of it's victims have all claimed to have felt a strange presence hovering about them after they wake from their nightmares. Many have also said that in their nightmares, they have heard Darkrai's voice beckoning them to follow it. If they happen to heed it's call, chances are they'd never wake up again...

I thought darkrai was a nice pokemon Well at least it's better than my messed up theory where darkrai and deoxys are bffs XD

Darkrai being good in the Dex entries and the movie was kinda...silly to me. So, I stick with evil, and look at how he was shown in the Mystery Dungeon game.

Think of it like that old vampire thing where you'd put out a pile of beans or rice to ward them off. They'd spend the night having to count each one, and couldn't come after you.
Darkrai gets dream catcher charm thingies purely because he's in the dream world when he comes. Still doesn't protect 'em much, since he's basically Pokemon Freddy Krueger. XD

I've always seen Darkrai and Giratina as Friends/allys. THey are the darker side of life.

I look at it as Giratina being the PokeGod of Death with Darkrai as a higher level of reaper who torments people on the side.

Compared to your description, the official Darkrai backstory is just plain lame. Apparently, they say that Darkrai hides on an island just to avoid hurting people with its nightmares.
I like your mythology. It's a lot darker and more mature than even the "official" myths.

The games are always horrible at softening things up in the end. Darkrai, at the very most, would have to have a split personality before I would think of him as nice.

Yeah, this was the first time I drew Darkrai, back when my take was just a stylized version. I doubt you'd have the same sentiment for the version I use now.

it looks like a sprite from the red, blue, and green series of pokemon games. you know...how the sprites looked similar but a lot different compared to the sugimori art but it still looked really cool!^^
