  I consider myself a pretty avid gamer. I dabble in many different gaming genres and series, ranging from fighting games like Super Smash Bros. and Mortal Kombat to RPG’s like Pokemon and the Mario and Luigi series. One of my favorite genres has to Platformers, including Retro Platformers like Megaman and Mario. Then, along came Shovel Knight. I wasn’t sure of what to think at first, so I passed and played other games at the time. After I heard some amazing reviews about the game, I downloaded it off the Nintendo E-shop and started my adventure. Shovel Knight became my favorite Platformer and one of the best games I have ever played. The game is also doing extremely well right now, with a new mode coming in a future update where you play as Plague Knight and a Shovel Knight Amiibo coming out in the future, I’m extremely hyped for the game. Still, one thing lingered on my mind though: Why isn’t there a mode where you can play as Shield Knight? Ever since saving her at the end of the game, I hoped that the people over at Yacht Club Games would allow us to play as her in a new mode. One day, as I was about play through Shovel Knight on my 3DS again, a message that I’ve never seen before in the game appeared. It read “Do you want to play Shield Knight Mode?” I figured that they finally released an update that made Shield Knight playable. Excitedly, I picked yes. The screen then flashed a light blue color, blinding me temporarily as the world shifted around me. I opened my eyes to find myself in what looked like the first level of the game, The Plains. While looking around and wondering how this was happening, I found a gigantic red shield on the ground. I thought to myself, “This is the shield that Shield Knight uses!” As I went to pick up the shield, a weird feeling hit me as the changes began.
            All of my body hair instantly fell off as I noticed my hands turning feminine and dainty as my fingernails lengthened a bit. To add on to that, my skin was also gaining a bit of a tan color as well. My arms slimmed down, but while I lost some muscle, I felt even stronger than before. As the tan skin tone reached my chest, a pair of moderate sized breasts grew out from my chest. I realized at this point that the shield was turning me into a girl! After realizing this fact, all the fat from my stomach vanished, leaving a smooth, toned core behind. The changes progressed even further as I felt my manhood being sucked into my body, leaving a functional womanhood behind. As I was shocked by this change, my legs began to grow a bit longer, increasing my overall height to 5’8 as they slimmed down as well. My feet then began to shrink a few shoe sizes and became dainty. My butt also rounded out a bit. Finally, my face began to feminize as my nose shrunk a bit and my lips plumped up. My Adam’s apple also disappeared, leaving my voice higher pitched. My eyes also feminized as my pupils changed color, going from hazel to a plain brown. Thankfully, my hair remained black, but it grew longer to give it a feminine look. I was now a full on female trapped in this strange place!

            Before I could even comprehend what just happened, the shield began to glow. The changes weren’t over yet! My clothes start feeling heavier as my pants, shirt, and shoes morph into various pieces of red armor. Dark red fabric forms under the armor. My shoes morph into armor boots as a gold belt with hanging pieces of armor appears on my waist and my shirt becomes an armor chest plate with gold plating on the top of it. 2 shoulder plates with gold rims formed on my, well…shoulders (repetitive much?). Red gauntlets form on my hands as the dark red fabric from my torso spreads all over my body to my hands and feet. A large, crested helmet with white wing-like attachments appears on my head. Finally, my 3DS (That came with me as I was transported to this place), began to turn from black to gold and round out, becoming a shield smaller than the giant red shield from before. It places itself on my right wrist, finishing the transformation. Suddenly, I pass out due to exhaustion from the transformation.

            I awoke later on, wondering what happened. The shield was still where it was from earlier, lying on the ground. As I went to try and pick it up, I noticed a familiar face staring at me in the reflection: Shield Knight. “I’ve become Shield Knight!” I thought to myself. As I realized, I began to get a headache as new memories began to enter my mind including adventuring with Shovel Knight, her…my ally and maybe something even more. Luckily, my old memories of my life as Dylan remained, but they merged with Shield Knight’s memories in the process. When that was finished I looked over myself in complete shock, I’ve become Shield Knight! A fictional video game character! I remembered back to when I was playing Shovel Knight for 3DS. “Activating the Shield Knight Mode caused this!” I thought to myself. Even though I was still shocked by this whole ordeal, I was also kind of excited to be this character. I always wanted to be able to play as Shield Knight in some kind of mode, but I didn’t expect this! Now I get to experience it! Remembering I was in the 1st level, the Plains, I picked up my signature shield in confidence and set off to rescue my love, Shovel Knight.
