I like how Smaug was done in the movie, though I would have liked to hear more of his boasting- it game this feeling that he knows he's untouchable- that anyone fool enough to try will not live to regret the folly of trying to kill him.

I sort of thought the same. I thought it deadened his character a bit - and I was kind of disappointed with the design too, mainly as far as the wyvern body and lack of actual scales go. He doesn't look as frightening, more like a giant snake with wings and claws. But maybe I'm just super nit-picky, haha. I love dragons so I'm always seeing things that could be improved.

I liked everything on him, although I was a bit dissapointed first that he appeared as a wyvern instead of a regular dragon.
But he was still more than epic.

"My armor is like tenfold shields. My teeth are like swords. My claws are spears! The shock of of my tail, a thunderbolt! My wings are a hurricane! And my breath...., death!!"
I wish they put in a bit more of Smaug's gloating, but I love how the augmented it into a life-or-death chase that even had the dwarves involved in it. It made me wonder what it would have been like to see these great forges at work in Erebor, back at the kingdom's peak.
