Description

Task #9 for Show your OC losing their temper and the reason

Heh. There is only one thing . . . one PERSON who can make the Captain lose his temper completely,

Lieutenant Yokov Dell, the blond on the right getting yelled at.

Now, there are many things that infuriate Captain Pyrs about Yokov, but the two most galling are:

1)The Captain was forced to accept Yokov as a Lieutenant under his command and he couldn't protest because it was an order from his King.

2)Yokov is a Westerner.

The Captain already knows with certainty that Yokov is lazy and probably a liar (due to his Western blood it HAS to be a given in his mind) so if there is so much as a hint of that behavior he makes sure to write detailed and nasty reports to the King about Lieutenant Dell.

Now, Yokov is admittedly . . . uhm . . . good at conserving his energy But he's no liar and he always follows orders and does what he is assigned, though his methods can be a bit nonmilitary at times He can also border on disrespectful to the Captain because he has issues with authority figures who automatically think the worst of him.

But the thing that infuriates the Captain the most about Yokov is that the Westerner does not seem to be even afraid of him. As you can see, Captain Pyrs is in full fury and Yokov looks like he's listening to someone tell a simple story.

Yokov has faced far worse so he really doesn't fear a bunch of yelling, especially since he knows the Captain can't really do half of what he threatens due to Yokov being on the King's good side But it doesn't help that Yokov tends to see how far he can go before the Captain loses his temper.

It's not a great situation, but luckily for everyone involved the King finally solves the problem by giving Yokov a different assignment.

I imagine the dialogue for the above picture goes something like this -

"DELL! I am putting you on report for this!"

"Captain, whatever it is you are accusing me of I did not do it, unless it was something assigned to me, then it got done."

"I AM going to manage to convince the king that you are no good for this kingdom and have you tossed out on your deceitful ear!"

"You are going to have a hard time with that, but if you feel it is necessary I cannot stop your attempt."

The Captain looks like he wants to draw his sword on Yokov and stops himself then leaves in a huff as Yokov calmly watches him leave.

All the time. But this is even worse in that the Captain had no say in accepting him in the ranks. He hates the idea of being forced to accept people he doesn't approve himself

Ah Yokov, my dear buddy, completely unimpressed as the Captain flips his gourd XD I love this! Their expressions are perfection, as are their poses- both perfectly demonstrate what's going on. The background is excellent too! I love the stones and that hay bale. Wonderful work!

They definitely don't mesh personality wise Probably good that Yokov ends up where he does

Interesting contrast! A strict and grumpy Captain vs his chill foreign subordinate. :////

*chuckle* Funny part is that Yokov is actually a main character in his own story and the Captain is a secondary character in that one and the previous one So doing the Captain for OC Training actually made me look at both stories from his point of view rather than just as an antagonist to Yokov

That's interesting! Have you ever put Yokov through a round of OC Training yet? : o

I haven't, but that's because he really doesn't need it Yokov is very well developed at this point The Captain, on the other hand, didn't even have a proper name before I put him in OC Training

Oh, I see! But it might be good to have Yokov join in on the OC fun, people might be interested to learn about him! ^ - ^

I've got four years worth of NaNoWriMo posted about him If you're curious you can check those out www.deviantart.com/wandandswor…

Maybe at some point I'll put him in there, but I've already got a different character that I'm planning on using for the next round

Oh no, poor Yokov D:
It's nice that he's taking it this well, but it's gotta be hard getting yelled at for nothing at all constantly just because of where you're from =/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dragondoodle In reply to MonarchNika [2018-12-14 18:27:30 +0000 UTC]

It is. Unfortunately Yokov's had a lot of practice with it . . . at least the Captain isn't physically violent. Yokov's previous military experience was far worse, including a lot of physical abuse. Working with the Captain is a cakewalk compared to that

Yeeah, he's had a rough life . . . although it does eventually get a lot better Nobody knows any of this and he doesn't tell anyone, I suspect if the Captain was aware of Yokov's past he wouldn't be so hard on him But Yokov's the type that he hates people feeling sorry for him so he doesn't say anything about it.

LOL, I love how Jace is just losing it while Yokov doesn't seem to particularly care that he's pissing him off so much. That shows their different personalities so well!

Pretty typical interaction between the two of them. Drives the Captain up the wall at how unperturbed Yokov can be.

Ah, I feel like I personally wouldn't enjoy getting yelled at by Jace.
But then and again, I don't like getting yelled at by anyone.
I just love the expression on Yokov's face, though!

dragondoodle In reply to Birdhousebirdy [2018-12-03 17:39:18 +0000 UTC]

I imagine he's very good at being loud Yokov is just . . . well . . . let's just say he grew up in a couple of situations where getting hit was a common thing. He knows that the Captain won't hit him because that's not the Captain's style so Yokov can take the yelling easily.

As a matter of fact, I have some right here - Interactions between Yokov and Captain PyrsFirst Written interaction (from “Yokov and Snorer”):
“Lieutenant Dell! Yokov! Sir! The Captain has been looking for you!”
Yokov opened one eye and looked up at the young man assigned to sending messages. The lad must have run all the way from the palace if the sweat and general disarray of his clothing was any indication. Yokov stretched, yawned, and gave the black-haired runner his full attention. The messenger gasped and leaned against the very comfortable tree Yokov had been sleeping under just moments ago and the blond Lieutenant was reluctant to get up after such a pleasant nap. “You are going to wear yourself out before you reach your twenties, young man.”
“Please, sir. I need you to accompany me to the Captain’s office.” The young man was panting for air, yet looked incredibly twitchy to get going.
Yokov got up slowly, trying not to laugh at the look of growing panic on the young messenger’s face. “It ca

Yeup, although to Rori's dismay (she's Yokov's wife) one of the ways they work out that agreement is by having a one-on-one sparring session. Real blades but with sparring armor.

I suddenly feel like I should post that little segment (it's already posted but in the middle of a much longer document that is mostly about Yokov )

Well, here's some written stuff (the sparring bout is the last section) - Interactions between Yokov and Captain PyrsFirst Written interaction (from “Yokov and Snorer”):

ow damn Yokov....whyy Captain Pyrs looks always as a person who can control his emotions so well.
I geus Yokov is one of a kind to drive the captain this far.

Oh, he is normally in control. I think it's a combination of the Captain having no patience with Yokov and Yokov deliberately doing things that will set the Captain off Their personalities are just the kind that work off each other in a bad way

Oh god, Yokov's smug expression and calm demeanour here! I love how it contrasts with Jace's furious expression! xD I bet that only adds to Jace's fury with him here! I can see where Yokov is coming from though! At least the king resolved the problem in the end though. Great work!

dragondoodle In reply to Helladelic [2018-11-24 00:49:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Yokov's relaxed attitude does not help matters I imagine if Yokov did yell back, the Captain would at least know he was making some sort of impact, as it is it's like yelling at a wall

AaronBrawnstone [2018-11-21 18:48:15 +0000 UTC]

Yokov dosen't seem that intimidated by the Captain's yelling. It's like the Captain is the crazy one and Yokov knows how to deal with him.

Anyway, I love this! ^v^

Yokov has had a very hard life so not much bothers him anymore. As for the Captain, he's  irrational when it comes to Yokov so in this case he does seem a bit crazy

Oh, they work together, sort of. Thankfully it doesn't last too long, at least as Captain and Lieutenant. They do end up working together as equals in the future and that doesn't go very well initially, but they finally figure out how to manage without conflict.

I want to say that I love that Yokov's smug expression contrasts nicely with Jace's enraged expression. You can tell this one person pushes Jace's buttons and Yokov loves it. Excellent work done and I love the backstory to go with this piece!
