I figured I'd take a break from hard cell shading after I've been doing so many pictures in that manner and decided to do a soft cell drawing after looking at this tutorial. Although it doesn't look nearly as good as that drawing in there I am pretty happy how it turned out. I used a variety of chalk, speckle and shine brushes to get the background effect as you see here.

In this situation, Arina had been worn out from a fight and was knocked unconcious. Sakuya continued the fight and managed to win but ended up losing his helm and causing a large fire in the process. Instinctively he grabbed Arina and rushed out to safety before they would get into anymore danger.

I wanted to do a scene like this or something that would show just how heroic and selfless Sakuya really is. He is one to protect others, but Arina as mentioned in a previous deviation is the priority for being protected, because without her Sakuya is pretty much lost as far most things go and he would most likely become feral from becoming lonely.
