Origin of Name: Rugged+Rug+Grizzly= Ruggrizzly.
Based on: Roadkill, bear skin rugs, grizzly bears, and sloth bears.

BST: --

*Pokemon is protected from flinching and super-effective damage.
-Note: Pokemon takes normal damage instead from super-effective attacks.

=============================

Here's a newcomer! Possout's final stage, the King of the Road, Ruggrizzly!

This final stage was set in stone in my head, but like Badgroad I was stumped for the longest time on how to execute it. That sums it up, really. Not gonna repeat it again. Ruggrizzly is the Excelo Region's equivalent to the Kanto Region's Snorlax. These massive ursine Pokemon block key routes the player needs to pass in order to proceed with their journey. Of course, waking them up is not a safe task, no sir! I hope that you're beary pre-beared for this unbearable bear of a battle! /obligatory hiimdaisy reference

Ruggrizzly is the definition of tank. Massive attack power, great defensive prowess, and a powerful hidden ability in Super Armor make this bear... well, unbearable. It excels in dishing out heavy physical damage with moves like Crush Claw and Double-Edge while simultaneously having a good recovery move in Slack Off. The only thing holding this monster back is its abysmal speed. It can take hits, but it ain't gonna win any races outside of Trick Room! Mold Breaker users will also succeed in cracking Ruggrizzly's defenses should they opt for Super Armor as an ability. Otherwise, this bear will take all you throw at it with its beastly bulk! Does your team have the bear necessities to ward it off?!

what about this for super armour: cannot take more than 50% of its hp from an attack.

This ability is insanely overpowered and it would be a beast in competitive play!

No but seriously one of my favourite Fakemon designs, Good Work!

Sorry I'm late, I haven't been on in a while (no surprise, there) but I really like the design and aesthetic you were going with in this one. Based on your description I think a valid and reasonable BST would be: 100/140/100/60/100/25 = 525

Ruggrizzly would be an absolute beast in competitive play, with its high HP, Attack and Defences. Its Speed and Sp. Attack aren't worth much but everything has its flaws; this flaw can work in Ruggrizzly's favour, however! As if Trick Room is set up this thing will be set loose and will devour the opponent's team before they can react. In summary, really cool Pokemon with really cool stats.

You have a habit of really minimizing stats from what I've seen. I'd go more along the lines of 100/125/110/55/65/55 = 510.

100/100/100 bulk on a Trick Room team with a MASSIVE 140 Atk and threatening 25 speed that's only outsped by a few mons like Shuckle, Ferro, and Staka? Not to mention an incredible ability that basically equals Delta Stream + Inner Focus, as well as a second amazing option as an actual viable user of Simple? No thanks. 125 Atk is still solid, especially after Simple SD or even Hone Claws, while its speed still functions quite well under TR, outspeeding even TR Tyranitar. 65 SpD is so that it still has flaws, and I might even opt to swap its SpA and SpD since it already has amazing potential thanks to its abilities and physical bulk.

Yeah, it has plenty of advantages but it also has arguably the worst defensive typing in the game so I gave it really high Attack to balance it out.

leopardheart982 In reply to Dr-Goom [2018-01-05 17:51:39 +0000 UTC]

That'd be true if its ability didn't negate that entirely. It has absolutely no weaknesses, two immunities, a couple resistances, and can't flinch already.

Dr-Goom In reply to leopardheart982 [2018-01-05 22:56:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh shit, I completely overlooked its ability. Yeah, you’re right about that but I made the BST quite some time ago and I don’t think it’s worth it to change it.

You should do out a list of all the new moves and abilities you made up

I agree completely. Maybe even art showcasing the moves? That might be too much to ask but w/e.

WhitePhoenix1999 [2017-04-28 21:57:25 +0000 UTC]

wait so does it take x2 damage from fighting-type moves due to its dual typing or does Super Armor negate any and all weaknesses entirely? Very srs question because there's a very distinct possibility that the ability might be just the tiniest bit COMPLETELY BROKEN

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dragonith In reply to WhitePhoenix1999 [2017-04-29 00:31:57 +0000 UTC]

Super Armor prevents super-effective damage, but it doesn't prevent damage. That just basically means Ruggrizzly's line will take a flat x1 damage from everything, unless you factor in abilities like Mold Breaker.

WhitePhoenix1999 In reply to Dragonith [2017-05-02 21:12:08 +0000 UTC]

I see. That is what I had meant because if you look at things like Eelektross or Air Balloon dark/poison types, they're rather hard to whittle down when they have no weaknesses. Combined with the likelihood that Ruggrizzly will have rather large defensive stats, the most likely situation will be that Ruggrizzly will flat-out make things like Chansey or Shuckle obsolete, as it does the tanking job bear-y well and isn't a slouch in the offensive department either. A consideration to make is that it could be more like the lovechild of filter and inner focus, taking reduced damage, but not preventing the complete bonus, from super-effective attacks while still retaining the no-flinching the bear is known for.

Hmm, you make a fair point.

I might just have to reduce it to that instead then.

leopardheart982 In reply to Dragonith [2017-12-12 18:24:04 +0000 UTC]

Another option, just to throw it out there, is that it prevents damage from Fighting types altogether, and only Fighting types, in a manner similar to Levitate.

I would question how an opossum evolves into a badger and then a bear, but then again, There's a remora/archerfish that evolves into an octopus, a piranha that evolves into a shark, a clam that can evolve into two different kinds of eels, and an owl that becomes a ghost when it evolves fully. As always, keep the outstanding work!

Remoraid=revolver octillary=turret that's what their designs are based off of so that's why they evolve that way

About Jade Description, do they command Asphalarge to dig under and replace the road Ruggrizzly was on, then carry it away? Or there are some other methods?

I like this guy! In fact, I'd want him on my team. I've always thought grizzlies were awesome, and the tire-tracks on Ruggrizzly just make him that much more badass. He's like, "I've eaten my fill, and it's time for a food-coma. I'ma sleep..... here." *THUD*

Ten minutes later, after a semi ran it over: *SNORE*

Beautiful.
