Description 1918, At the start of the Great War, the British Government had merged the Knapford, Wellsworth, and Suddery Railway with the Sodor & Mainland Railway, to form the North Western Railway, focused on the Island Of Sodor. The Admiralty supplied the railway with a selection of locomotives to help construct the new mainline, which would extend the KW&S's Tidmouth Branch northeast to Elsbridge and then east towards Kellsthrope Road on the east side of the Island to meet the Sodor and Mainland before spearheading east to Barrow-In-Furness, they also planned to construct a secondary mainline north to Harwick.

Here we see Admiralty Owned ExLBSCR A1 0-6-0T No. W64, formerly LBSCR No. 57 "Thames", locally nicknamed "Thomas", doing some shunting in the yard at Wellsworth while a Railway Operating Division 2-8-0 operates a works train, bringing back empty flatbeds to be reloaded at Knapford Harbor before returning back to triple track the mainline, or head up towards the Arlesburgh Tramway in Arlesburgh.

At the end of the war, both ROD 1777 and W64 would be sold to the North Western properly.

The Well's swirls spin so well, stoked by the mountain's magic.
