A breeze smelling of paper and leather gently rustle her feathers, and pull at her hair and dress. She peers up at a star-filled, daytime sky, an opening to the Space Between Worlds. She knows her time is almost there, to fulfill her final destiny as an author; to defend the world she'd written with her life force and loved with her very being.
Here in the Middle Lands, where the High Counsel of Great Authors reign unchallenged, she takes one last breath of the calm before plunging through to her world. The price of failure, oblivion. The reward for success, a throne among the Counsel.
