Who is he?
He is my OC in Balto, son of Steele and Anita (dragonwithashotgun.deviantart.… ). Just a bit smaller than Steele himself, Sarge is a stocky young male with the personality of a schoolyard bully, but in truth goes through his own inner conflicts. His harsh, bully personality was influenced by Steele, having been raised by the lead sled dog. Because his mother is a sweet and tender chubby husky who believes her son is truly a good being, his double personality (obedient and proud, trying to be like his father and then submissive and timid with his more soft-hearted mother) causes him to feel torn between who he really wants to be. Be a proud, successful dog like his father who can easily force others to do what he wishes, or like his mother, who expresses upmost honesty to friends and family and has no mere desire to want what she doesn't need. Then he sometimes wonders what his true personality is; he doesn't have many friends to express himself to.
He has a small rivalry with Aleu before she goes to live with her father, Balto, and knows of her and her siblings' wolf heritage. Though, because Balto forces Steele to never utter a word of it while in front of his pups (I made a small head cannon that Balto would confront Steele after his pups are born, knowing how Steele has a bad habit of speaking before thinking, and makes a deal of some sort to swear Steele into watching his tongue), Sarge doesn't expose her for what she is: part wolf. Instead of focusing his temper on her when they're older, after she leaves he finds a target in Balto's son, Kodiak, though Kodi doesn't want to have any part in it.

The reason he lives with his father, Steele, is because Anita's owner was low on money and had proposed that Steele and Anita have puppies to sell for high profit. Steele's human bought Sarge as to have a piece of Steele, and Anita's owner split the money amongst the two once the rest of the litter was sold. Sarge didn't get to be with his siblings any more after they were all adopted at five weeks old, and this was one of the causes for his social issues with other young dogs.
