I created a tune for this poem, and collabed with the incredible Garrison to make a full song of it! It turned out amazing, I'm so thrilled with it!

The cover picture for my poem Starswirl's Frankenstein which I really like how it turned out.
Seriously though. Discord is the most fun thing to draw. THE most fun. He's got wings and claws and a dragony head and oh so much fun!
The concept being that Discord was a creation of Starswirl's - meant to be the perfect son and apprentice, a being born of magic itself and forged with the greatest traits of living animals. Unfortunately, to conjure life is a grave thing, and Starswirl could not control what he had created...

I love this too, your page is extremely tempting to just stumble through.
It's like a candy store made of art!
This makes a lot more sense to me than the two other major theories for the Starswirl and Discord connection.
One being no connection at all and the other being they are the same being.
I mean if they were the same would Starswirl have such a high place in society after the fact?
Celestia's own sister was dropped off the historical record when she took her fall!
And if they weren't connected at all then the fact that they're in the same timeline and both super powerful would feel like such a waste!
They could at least be rivals who never truly defeatedΒ one another, until Starswirl lost the eternal battle with age.
But this is even MORE interesting! Great job.
I'm imagining the story playing through with StarSwirl just makes him of the essence of all these creatures.
So he gathers the very magic of all these animals and creatures from observation,and he tries to pick and choose his preferred traits to build a perfect heir.
(Like a lions loyalty, and a dragons strength and resilience, etc.) and that kinda kills the whole thing because when Discord comes alive he has ALL their traits
rather than just the preferred ones.
So he wants to protect and rule a territory from his lions paw, and wants to hoard and screw everything else from his dragons wing and stuff like that.
And all the voices are the same volume so, he's paralyzed by the contradicting advice, and none of the ponies can help, because they're driven by their one true purpose or the whims of their fancy and none of the other speciesΒ can help him because they only do that one thing, but he wants to do ALL the things,
and they all clash and he goes off the rails and tries to do all the things!
So yeah this is WAY too long sorry.
But I love this concept too.

I actually thought Discord was Star Swirl. The beard, Star Swirl not having any friends, just like Discord, Star Swirl being master of the amnimorphic spell, etc.

that actually makes so much sense now, when I first heard about the theory, I was a little confused on why Star Swirl would just magically freaking turn himself into a...whatever. Either way, I really actually do believe there is a connection between Dipcord and Star Swirl, it would make for an amazing episode, that's for sure.
