The newest villain to grace the MLP world.
From the season premiere today! AND since I hadn't seen him before the premiere (no spoilers for me, ha ha) I think I was less disappointed than a lot of people. Since he didn't get much screentime. XD Personally, I agree it would have been nicer to see more of him - but they only had so much time to tell the story they wanted to. So I think they did a good job regardless.Besides. I think that Sombra is evil enough that he doesn't need monologues, he doesn't need songs, he doesn't need us to even see him. He's the boogeyman, the nightmare, the shadow on the wall. HE IS YOUR FEAR.
Anyhoo...
For those who don't watch MLP, he's a tyrant king who enslaved an empire - but he was defeated, transformed into a shadowy fog monster, and sealed in ice for a thousand years. Then he returns, obviously.
SO I saw this picture in my head and just had to paint it. XD I wanted it to feel like ink, since his soul was so black...plus it's like he's crawling out of the shadows he was transformed into, and starting to regain his old power.

I like this. It's just the suggestion of a body, but he's very clearly still a being of shadow. It works out wonderfully.

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental
hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the
staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so
they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the
machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.

Its a shame though that Gak had more of a personality than this guy. With a little more development he could have been the most menacing villain to date.

I figure he didn't really NEED character development. He was actually a pretty logical villain if you think about it - he didn't bother having pointless monologues, so that WE could get to know him. He was too busy trying to take over an empire and enslave its people again. XD

The thing people don't understand about Sombra is his true purpose for the two-parter. It wasn't about him returning, it was about Twilight learning a lesson while also defending an empire. He was more of an outside threat moving in, something to create tension and hinder Twilight's mission.

Okay, finally watched the first two episodes to Season 3 so I can comment on this properly. XDDD
For starters, I was a little disappointed that he got little to no screen time, though like you said, he is the boogeyman, the nightmare, etc. I love the thought of that but in a way I wish that he had gotten a bit more time in the spotlight. Though I don't pay attention to many things and only get updated by friends, I only first saw Sombra when you were drawing him in your stream, and I must say I was pretty excited for him, though not AS excited as many others were where they puked rainbows over the thought of him and suddenly want to piddle all over the developers for not meeting their expectations. That's why I never try to get too excited about something, because then my expectations will never be met and I'll just get angry. XD
But oh my lord his voice is just amazing. Like it's the sort of thing you hear and wonder if someone is truly there whispering things to you or if it's just your imagination. I also dearly loved his little "see your greatest fear" door, makes me think of him as a sort of troll (though no one will ever be as good of a troll as Discord ;3).
Sombra was an amazing threat to overcome, loved his character so much! >:V Though like I said, I love your design of him much more because it looks so much more menacing but I must also remember it's a kids show so they can't be too extreme with enemies like him. ;3c

At first I really hated how Sombra didn't appear very developed, but now I appreciate it. It makes the guy more mysterious and evil looking. He doesn't have any memorable lines, but when he did speak it made him feel like a irrational monster.

I like your take on him so much more XD I have a bunch of brony friends who kept being all OMG SEASON 3 SO PHYCHED which I think kinda spoiled the awesome for me :I it was awesome nonetheless <3 But Sombra kinda felt weird...idk. I like your depecition of him a lot better :3

And I agree, this guy is seriously under-appreciated by the fans. Which is sad, because I have to agree that the episode seriously wasted a lot of potential here. I was really hyped for this villain and we got so little of him. Still, at least the fans show off his good side, like this. <3

I think one of the problems was he has such a kick-awesome design - I just adore his look. He has such a Scar-esque mane. <3 But because he was released as a spoiler, I think people hyped him up to a point impossible to achieve, so the story that was actually told felt a little disappointing.
Luckily for me, I didn't meet dear Sombra until the episode itself. So while I felt he could have been more, I very much liked what we got.
