Carved, tooled, and colored on 2-3oz leather.

Carving time: 18 hours
Coloring time: 3 hours
Am I done yet? Need to cut to size, seal, and frame.

So! I finished tooling the flowers, finally. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of them all done. ((I fail!!))

Then I went straight on to coloring.

I went with a wash all over. Originally, I'd planned to only do the roses on her and the pearls... then said "meh, that'll look stupid', so I've done the whole thing.

Does this stray from the original image by Naoko ((owner and creator of Sailor Moon, so not me....)? Why, yes. Yes it does. After all, it's fanart. And the original was so very very yellow.

So first I did all the border flowers in a soft pink wash, letting the color of the leather itself show through to differentiate between lighter/darker areas. I think it came out pretty nice.

Then I did those itty bitty pearls. (Oh how I love my new paintbrushes..) I used a white+silver wash, making them shine a bit. (thanks to tashabear on leatherworker.net forum's suggestion)

Mamoru's hair and tux are originally black, but after the tooling I've done, and the overall softness I wanted, I went with gray. I made his hair lighter, too. (I like it but I've been told it looks blue. *looks mournful*)

I did a grey/white VERY THIN wash on her veil, hoping to pick it up gently. I used a darker version of that on his vest.

Her dress I did in a white wash, and a pale red (ok ok dark pink) on the roses on her. In the original image, her dress and those roses are white, but I wanted to do it a little differently... After all, white is purity, so white roses are pure love..and red roses are romantic love... which I wanted to show with the more vibrant color. I gave him a red bowtie, too.... After all, to show your neck is to be vulnerable, so he is vulnerable only to love.... ha ha?

Guess it's up to any Sailor Moon/Anime fans out there to say if I have done it justice.
