Mandos and his wife, Vaire. They are of the Valar that oversee all of Ea. Mandos is the Keeper of the dead, a Feanturi (Master of Spirits) and his wife weaves the stories and history of the world into elaborate tapestries. I believe that, though unspoken and unwritten, Mandos truly and deeply loves his wife and adores her trade hence the reason he adorns his halls with her countless works.I wanted to portray this couple is manner that is often overlooked by "The Silmarillion". Much is said about Manwe's relationship with Varda and the relationships that otehr Valar have with their spouses but Vaire is hardly mentioned. Mandos, though not easily moved to pity, still is part of the manifestation of Illuvatar and thus still has love.

I actually have had this done for almost 2 months but had not had the chance to post it. It was fun! I hope you like it!

My favorite Valar couple! It’s so nice to see Namo’s tender, loving side. I envision Namo and Vaire providing each other with the comfort and emotional support needed for their difficult jobs.

I have the same impression of them. We know little about Mandos and Vaire and if anything Mandos seemed merciless, whereas for me he seemed as person who tried to be just in his judgements. Wonderful job!

Indeedy! And I'm tired of Mandos/Namo always being portraed as the grim reaper...I mean REALLY?!??!?!? Would Vaire in her right mind marry a demonic looking creeper?

Well, it depends. Those who see him as such probably depict Vaire as a freaky, blind sorceress of Doom, too. She's simply using other methods (aka weaving).
