I've grown more accustom to using oil based mediums over the years. I can't deny that I love using regular chalk pastels, but you can't replicate the look oil gives off.
Thanks for the fav

I use cheap Cray Pas for pastels, which come in a green box. They're great for when you're layering them to hell, but probably not in quality. Some high end art stores sell great brands of pastels, some in sets and some separately.
For oil paints, it varies. Mostly Winstor and Newton because they're also cheap, and I'm forced to paint naked people all the time, but sometimes I pick up an off brand or store brand paint too.

I'm just beggining work with oil pastels (all art, really. school course I'm taking to improve) and this is awesome... Most anyone who can make something out of oil pastels amazes me and you have exceeded that standard. Seriously, thanks.

No criticism here, I'm not skilled enough to offer any. Instead, I want to tell you that I like what you've done with this. The pose is very pleasing to me.
Coincidentally I'm in the middle of making a plague doctor costume.

Thanks, I felt like he was a little overbearing
I am absolute shit at making masks, so I've given up on any attempt at making a decent plague doctor costume. How are you making your mask?

I had a plaster cast of my face to use as the base and based the beak around two pieces of corrugated cardboard, one for either side and held in place with tack. From there on I just used pappier machΓ©! Perhaps I should post pictures some time.

I think so. I struggle a little with oil pastels. You're welcome.

Robert Downe Jr, Sam Neil and Hugh Grant...I got the idea for Lorelei partly from watching it.
