A lot of music went into this, ha. Particularly this song - [link]Er. Right, have some context - The creature is an ancient omnipotent being called a Patriot, no one knows much about them- except that they have incredible power and are very seldom seen. There are 3 patriots in particular (of 8) that can cure any disease and heal any wound. 2 of those patriots are downright hostile, and the 3rd (this guy) is a tossup. It might decide to help you, or it might decide to make you explode depending on what day of the week it is. People who are desperate enough plagued with illness sometimes attempt to seek him out. Most fail, and the ones who do manage to find him (or should I say be found) are usually never seen again.. but there have been some unconfirmed legends of a very lucky few who lived.

Very nicely done. Looks as if it should have been given to 343 studios as inspirational art for halo4 or another. Could be seen as Cortana coming into influence against the grave mind! Ah! The possibilities!

I enjoy the contrast between the gelatinous and fishlike horrid creature and the pure crystal like wings. Together with the hill going into the horizon gives a nice duality with the empty void on the other side. I whold also add that the background story gives it all a nice "touch".

The juxtaposition of a large, foreign, and seemingly grotesque creature participating in a seemingly tender gesture almost always makes for an interesting scene, and you do not disappoint here. The creature is very strange at base, but a lot of charm comes from seeing such a unfamiliar anatomy. The coloring is very nice as well, the setting sun creating a zone of darkness (The beast) and of light (The wings) that compliments the piece well. Last point, the song fits very well. Excellent piece.

The lighting on this is really rather good, especially with the sun on the wings giving it a very ethereal feel.

Huh, I vaguely remember hearing a thing or two about these guys like four years ago, but this is more information than I'd had before. Really nifty concept, in any case, and a cool design. I do remember seeing the old version you posted a link to, and I love the revamp here. I always love to see how designs evolve over time. It's interesting stuff.
