One of the more common lifeships of the Motile Islands, the frigate-sized "Lancers" were originally a species of aerial cephalopod. Millenia of breeding and genetic engineering have increased their size, speed, and maneuverability, as well as enhancing their natural defenses. They still retain their social nature, and therefore work best in groups or "shoals."

This one was fun. I really, really like cephalopods, and I've been wanting to do a "flying squid" render for a long time. Everything came together in this one: the shape, the texturing, the bioluminescence, even the tiny details on the eyes.
