Easily the most feared skyship in the Malignance swarm, this craft is smaller than a frigate but can do more damage on its own than a swarmship with an entire wing of fighters. This is mostly due to the ship's unique and deadly prow-mounted spike, which it uses to impale larger craft, often running them clean through. The ship's most common nickname--"Shrike"--comes from the predatory bird that impales its prey in a similar fashion.

This was originally going to be a fighter-sized ship, but I decided that the Malignance needed a decent frigate (mid-sized combat vessel). Also, I wanted something that could really give the good guys a run for their money--the Malignance fighters are Raven-bait, and a few dreadnoughts can stand up to a swarmship, but everyone dreads the sight of a Shrike.

The Deviation Title comes from an ancient kind of warship used during Greek and Roman times. Triremes had reinforced prows that they used to ram other ships.
