Ended up coloring this one. Took quite a number of shortcuts with gradients and satin layers. Not a good habit for artistry, but I feel I'm more an idea guy than anything. Just glad I could throw something together at least. Heh. I just liked the idea of an Initial D inspired anime but with snake characters, maybe some other anthro varieties (won't try making deep lore, just fantasy racing stuff). Working title "Speed Scale". (Reference to cars with SS badges, maybe? I dunno.)

(Gambler snake wants to race. Care to wager?

Been on a Eurobeat binge for a while. I find music to immerse me in ideas at times. Just blending lyrics to whatever I fancy them might inspire. So here's the song that spurred this one:

And for the little story I had in mind:

  Ras (fictional male blue racer snake) is invited to a get-together at a local casino resort by Velvetta (fictional female Pink-Green racer snake). Ras meets her folks along with a fellow suitor snake, Klaus (above illustration) who just so happened to be hanging around the casino lobby at the time of their entry. Velvetta's parents expect her to date someone of financial repute, and the son of a casino owner seems one potential candidate. They show favor to the fancily dressed serpent inviting him along to dinner as well.
Conversation arises surrounding the occupations of those at the table, leaving Ras a bit embarrassed at being a simple pizza delivery boy with little to his name (though he's been making some side money in virtual racing tournaments.) To add insult, Klaus makes a snide remark on Ras's car, stating that, even with a few performance upgrades, it couldn't match up with his own supercar. Velvetta, having seen potential in Ras's real life driving capabilities, and unwilling to let the insult stand suggests the two have a small circuit battle at the casino's track.
Klaus waves off the suggestion, deeming it a waste of time, to which Velvetta puts forth a wager of $100K of her own savings. Velvetta's parents raise eyebrows, but do nothing to forbid her, understanding that it might serve as a lesson for her not to put so much faith in the lower class. Ras too objects to the irrational decision, but Velvetta insists for him to defend his reputation as a talented driver. Klaus accepts the wager, finding no harm in winning or losing what he sees as pocket change.
  The party proceeds to the track with their cars.
Ras urges Velvetta once again not to go through with it, but Velvetta responds "Just get in the car, and show this gambler a loss for once."
Ras and Klaus pull up to the starting line. Klaus rolling down his window with a chuckle, "I'm sure you know this already. But the house always wins."
Ras grips his steering wheel, and shifts into gear.
  Oh, it's on now rich guy.
He eyes the boost kit at his side. He might just be able to win, with the right amount of luck.
Velvetta paces in front of the two racers, raising her arms. "On your marks, gets set. GO!"
Cue intense race music!)
