Chris still felt a bit sore from his crash course landing from Scarlet's spook and dump. Physically sore from slapping his bad leg into the ground. He didn’t even know it was his bad leg still. After puberty settled and he stopped growing like a weed, it seemed to be unbothered and healed up, no problem. It hadn’t ached in years. But now it had the steady throb again, aggravated by jarring movements like jogging or jumping. It was like he had been thrust back to being a preteen all over again. Only this time, he wasn’t managing it with painkillers. Not yet anyway. He was putting that off for as long as he could. Give it a week and see if it will get better on its own.
Otherwise, his patience with the horse had taken a toll. Even though it really wasn’t Scarlet’s fault - he blamed the asshole taking target practice at a horse park. Dickhead. But it made him look twice at another email from the Tharoksu Conservation Agency.
With his recent purchase of Scarlet, he had received another offer through the group. A kind of “Ambassador Program”. Basically, an opportunity to own a Tharoksu bred out of horses deemed “Ambassadors”. Meaning they were some of the best horses of the breed by breeding standards and accolades. They were owned by well-known trainers of the breed who worked diligently with the animals. Their lines were carefully chosen to produce high-quality offspring. It was no little offer to be eligible to select from the Ambassadors.
Chris mulled through some of the Ambassadors on offer, weighing his options. On one hand, he had Scarlet to work on already. On the other hand… it was another opportunity to raise a high-caliber Tharoksu with the lineage to back up future breedings. Worst come to worst, he could always just sell the colt off if it didn’t work out. What was the harm in accepting? Spend money to make money.
Selecting the sire and dam took a few days to weed through. Being a small organization, there wasn’t a lot to choose from. But Chris looked through each owner and anything the horses had accomplished.
Isbryter caught his eye for his grey color, of course. Couldn’t deny it at this point: Chris liked a grey horse. It was his “thing”. Furthermore, the stud had a lot of jumping potential, being well-seasoned on the intermediate levels. Perhaps not the fastest of the bunch, but solid performance nonetheless.
Choosing a dam proved to be much harder. All of them had good dispositions and a decent work ethic under them. He mentally sighed at himself for looking at the red one, Ondode Dood . She seemed to have a little attitude to her. Nothing horrible; she just stood her ground a little more than the others. A little more stoic than a soft, nurturing mare. He thought of Scarlet’s attitude and tried to close out of the mare’s profile.
But of course, he circled right back around to her. She wasn’t even the best candidate. Close out of it. But he opened it again the next day. She was more geared towards dressage. Chris wasn’t even interested in dressage. Close it. But the next day, he opened it one more time. She didn’t even seem all that bombproof, what good would that do him?

Fuck it. She looked cool and that was the final deciding factor. Just fuck it. Chris filled out the application and submitted it before he regretted populating the planet with another “useless” horse. At least it was helping to grow a small endangered breed?? How bad could that be?

I just have a design I wanted to use as a Tharoksu horse so I needed some slots : )
And there's a cool way to get some nice slots from horses with decent stats to boost your baby sooooo....
I picked ones that could make the baby and added a story because I can't NOT just make art without some kind of story

And there's others for sale and wild ones you can tame with art so there's my humble plug for another breed I took over a while ago and have slowly been polishing <3 I don't really shout about it, I like the natural organic build of a breed over time rather than "LOOK AT THIS AND COME GET SOME, MORE INFO THREE YEARS FROM NOW" xDDD It's a passion project of mine~

Aside from the breed plug, Huzzah! I tried doing the watercolor thing!
I ADORE watercolor aesthetic. Top tier of art style I just love browsing <''3 I'm not confident enough to try it traditionally. And I've been too timid to try it digitally for a while now too even though I had all the resources ready. But with this project, I wanted it quick and loose and decided this was probably the best time to give it a go because it just doesn't matter if it's a disaster in the long run xDDD I mean, most of the art I'm doing these days doesn't matter if it looks like a disaster lmao But I knew I could choose to do scenery a little more "wild" and made up - no restrictions so it was good timing!
I really dreaded doing ANOTHER mountain. I'm so over mountains xD They won't leave me alone. But it was too perfect as a center piece for this to balance it all out, give it depth and more color. -sigh- So there it is.
All in all, I'd do this again Return with more knowledge and maybe not another mountain lmao

Here's to hoping the baby lands well xDDD
