Description We hunger,
We consume,
We fight,
We destroy,
We conquer,
We Devour!

- Mantra of the Steel Maw

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's my first upload of the Steel Maw, the second-most powerful Chaos Cult (not counting Chaos Space Marine warbands) in the Gilranth Sector, although they aren't native to the sector; having aligned with Rain Kryze and the Damned of Scipio when both cults were in the Warp prior to the Gilranth Campaigns. The Steel Maw has a long and convoluted history that I won't bore anyone with unless they ask about it. Just know that they are specialists in biological and chemical warfare, and while not as advanced as the Outcastes, they have quite a few unique powers under their command. They work a lot with the Iron Warriors Chaos Space Marines, and as such have adopted many of their siege tactics and the yellow/black caution pattern for much of their equipment.

Community Time!: I'm not sure if I want to make these guys Chaos Undivided but closer to Nurgle or total Nurgle worshippers. In either case, they follow Nurgle more on the basis of technological corruption and industrialization, rather than the norm of maggots and plague. Different cultists worship different ideals of their patron god(s), but their theme follows polluted industrialization and an all-consuming corruption through machinery. So anyone can tell me whether they think they should be one theology or the other, since I'm not sure whether I like them better as Undivided or pure Nurgle cultists.

As for the drawing, the man in the center is Fidel "Old Rust" Vorzali, one of the oldest members of the cult and a former Skitarii of the Adeptus Mechanicus. He's not the first leader of the cult, in fact, he's the latest in a long line of many defeated or betrayed leaders, but he's kept them going for a good couple of years, and has ruled the cult for much of its "golden age" of expansion and swelling numbers. The man and woman (with the gas mask) flanking him are just run-of-the-mill Maw cultists with no real importance to them. Unlike the Outcastes, who I'm keeping a tight hold on because I have big plans for them, the Steel Maw are around for more fluff and atmosphere so if anyone out there feels like using them for something, I'll probably be cool with it.

As with most Nurgle-aligned cultists, members of the Steel Maw are usually very chipper and upbeat, and are almost always pretty cool guys, unless you hurt someone they like, then gods help you. They maintain a lot of trade and interaction with the Outcastes and play a major role in the Chaos Coalition Fleet fighting in the Gilranth Campaigns.

(Okey-dokey, I like their design, I like their specialties in biological and chemical warfare, and I like the idea that they might be Nurgle followers. Nurgle is the God of Decay, and Plague and Pestilence it's true, however he represents the ultimate breaking and ending of all things, the inevitable decline and rot. As such, pollution and corruption, mechanical or otherwise, would likely be right up his alley. They do seem too specific for Chaos Undivided, my personal opinion. Also, I like gasmasks and respirators on pretty much anything and generally dig the rotted/decayed piecemeal look they've got going on. Overall, I like them.)

Thanks! They're not really around in my canon anymore, though. I shuffled them into the Outcastes for the most part.

(Thou art welcome, and okey-dokey, bit of a pity but that's what rewrites and retconning and all that are for. Nods.)
