I love the way the petals seem to bend in certain points, you have given a very convincing 3D effect by drawing short lines with shades (or without) in all the right spots. You must have dedicated a lot of time trying to capture every detail and i think that you have come up with a very eye-catching result.

That's a really warm color and beautiful at the same time
But I think that you could darken some parts more if you want a highly realistic effect .
I think that you wanted to make a velvety rose, is not it?
Did you use faber castell pencils ?
By the way , your gallery is really impressive !

Hi Nynke, This is really beautifully done.
Excellent job on your shading technique on the pedals. The shading is done in such a way that it takes away all the guide lines and shapes the pedals realistically. Wonderful job on of blending of your medium especially on the outer pedals. This looks completely realistic in my opinion. I only have one very small suggestion on it.
It looks like you may have used black for your shadows.( my computer shows it as black) If I am wrong please correct me. This is just a color theory suggestion.
Shadows are not really black. In shadows the upward facing planes will tend to be cool temperature reflecting the light from above the object and downward planes will tend to be warm temperatures reflecting from other objects below and around it.
If you do not want to go to all that trouble with color theory. I would suggest using dark indigo blue for darkestshadows and blend some of the middle value color of your rose into the the cast shadow with a slightly lighter value of the indigo blue rather than use black . It's not the best way to do color shadows but it works a little better for realistic shadows than just using the black.
:Your using black for the shadow does not diminish the the excellent work you have done in this drawing at all, Thats the artists choice to what they wish to do with color. There are really no set rules as we all see color differently.
I feel you have done a fantastic job in using your medium itself and created a very; excellent realistic Rose. Beautiful work.
