I'm also excited about it as well. And I agree with you, why can't 2014 come sooner?!

I actually think it would be cooler if they released it closer to the holidays. I remember last year, I saw Wreck-It Ralph in the theaters in November, and it felt like the perfect time to come out. I'm still really looking forward to it, but I thought i'd mention it.

Maybe you're right about it being cooler if released closer to the holidays. I also saw Wreck it Ralph too but I can't remember when though.

Actually, it's CGI made to resemble stop motion, mixed with actual stop motion. According to the original announcement, there's also apparently going to be live action, too.

Really? They all move like stop-motion, while their faces move like they're computerized.

Like how live-action? Like, people's hands grabbing Legos?

I'm not sure myself, but here's how I think it works:
More complex parts, like action scenes/scenes involving special effects and possibly when the characters' faces get more expressive are done in CGI, while other, dare I say simpler scenes are done in stop motion, with replacement heads used for talking and face changes.
As for live action, I'm not even sure if they're still planning on using it or if it the idea was scrapped, but if they do, there might be live actor characters that would appear as gags or something along those lines.
