Description
So BASICALLY I started this while in school, drew the character (a female alien, but in their language female is "sasheek")I drew up the background and then got to work.
I fully colored then realized ot sucked 4 times for the background, and 3 for the alien.After a while I got a few refferences (lost at school T-T) and finally did the background the way I liked it.
The sky I had no troubles with, even the clouds, sun and moon.
You dont even want to know how LONG this took to make, but I'm telling you anyways :3
Approx time:: 2 and a half months-Yeah, I'm serious. And thats working on it 6-8 hours per day.
Tools used:: PS CS4 Extended and PS CS4

Lol yeah those damn plants took FOREVER! XD
Especially since randomly while painting the alien a big white bar went across the plants, on the plant layer T3T
And it wouldn't undo, so it took forever.
But I'm still new to digital painting XD :3

Its fairly old now I'm afraid, but the gentle atmosphere was definitely intended.
I always thought that her upper body motion with the angle of the neck/head always made her look inquisitive and curious, which in turn made me think she was cute :3
But everyone always looks at me like I have two heads when I say that XD

This is impressive. It's cool that you were willing to stick with it so long and finish it, if it were me, no way! The colors are magical, the whole place is really. You really made the scene come alive and it makes my imagination run wild. The sun really looks like it's glowing, the mountains looks big a rocky, the cliffs look rocky! The plants look wild and beautiful. The alien is gorgeous too, I love the colors, and it's magnificent face. Totally epic win.

I like your painterly style, you've achieved a nice balance between blending and leaving visible strokes. It gives a lot of texture to images so I like that you have used it here. I also like the sense of depth in the mountains in the background and that jutting ledge in the foreground. The plants are very beautiful, too. I love the detail and the array of colours in them. They look realistic but still seem like they are from an alien world.
I like that you have made your own species and tried to give her unique anatomy, but it seems a little lacking in terms of realism. Clearly she is quite bizarre but she would still have muscles and anatomy to allow her to move in a convincing way! Her top half seems to be human and her bottom half similar to a kangaroo, so look at reference photos and take from them to help you construct more convincing forms, or draw from life. As stylised as you may want to draw something, a grounding in realism is fairly essential, especially for portfolio purposes!
Perhaps also consider stronger backlighting on the foreground aspects of the image, as the sunlight is very strong??

Hmmmmmmm, critique? 
One problem that annoys me is the aliends head, he sure can bend it well as i see
To me, the alien seems a mix of a human body + a dynosauruses bottom half. Right ?

Mmmm... Dinosaur? LOL nope, I wassn't trying to make it relavent to anything XP
And yes, she can turn her head nearly any angle due to her long neck. It would make more sense if it were a 3D model cause then I could show all her sides/angles.
And I was trying to stray away from humanoid-but yet make it have arms and what-not. Not easy.
