This painting has intense meaning to me, for those who don't like to read too much, here's the short version:
It's a woman going through a gateway/portal that's ripping her apart. She went in willingly, but after seeing what it's doing to her she got scared and is trying to get out-but she can't cause the portal is pulling her through.

And here's the detailed version:

The story behind "Lifes Gateway of Self Destuction" is one that's quite close to home. This painting represents a very difficult time in my life. I went through an art block, many of you will probably scoff at that scentence, but to me-without drawing for a whole year was the worst fate ever. And not only was my art being affected, I felt like the world was against me and I always got the shit end of the stick. No matter how nice I was to people or how optomistic I forced myself to be, everything was horrible and NOTHING went right.
I had an apiffany one day. I was on the verge of being kicked out of college, and I sat there with the ability to keep myself at that school and I just stared forward. I wondered; what am I doing with my life?
Yes I was in the right program, and that profession was TRULEY what I wanted to do, but everything seemed wrong. I realized that the problem wasn't everything else around me, but it WAS me. I had a crappy outlook, I took NO pride in my work, and just barely scrapped by in life. I also realized all the horrible things that school was doing to me, so I left. I enrolled into a new school, moved to a new apartment, and started drawing.
I changed everything that day, and I'm damn proud of it, my work has seen a whole new light.

The elements in this picture portray different feelings during this year long period, lets start with the gateway.
The gateway is beautiful and inticing, the girl floats through the void to try and go through it. She couldn't see what was on the other side so she reaches an arm through. Upon doing so, the portal reacts and starts ripping the flesh off her arm, seeing her crisp bones beneath her flesh she tries to pull away. (as seen on the expression and turning of her head) She tries to pull, but her body is willing and her eyes wont look away from that spot.
The gateways hairs/arms reach up and start breaking her down, piece by piece as she nears it. Pulling on her leg and contorting her body it tries to pull her closer to it.
I also tried to make her different from how I really am-IE I have blonde hair and blue eyes, but I gave her red hair and green eyes-this is because I felt like a completley different person during this ordeal. You may not be able to tell, but her skin is porcelin white to show the fragility of her state.
