I'm so frustrated that they completely abandoned this character in the later series! Even if he didn't pull a Zuko, I would have liked for them to cleanly tie up his loose ends, but they didn't give us any closure at all! You have no idea how much I wanted Tahno to stick aroundΒ

I could never really see Tahno as a bad guy, even if that's what the logic pointed to. He just seemed like a character they were going to develop, just like Zuko!

Yeah, not to mention Tahno's also a victim of disproportionate retribution. He gets his bending taken away as a result of cheating at a Pro-Bending tournament. While cheating at sports is bad, it's not nearly as bad as anything Ozai or Yakone did. Hell, up until that point the Triple Threat Triad members were the only people Amon de-bended so far. Tahno wasn't a member of that gang and he wasn't exploiting nonbenders.
I was really disappointed that Tahno didn't show up for more episodes because he was one of the better written characters in the series and had plenty of redemption potential. Also, I think that him joining Team Avatar would have benefited the plot because even though Korra and her friends see people lose their bending, they never had to spend prolonged periods of time around anyone who lost it. Adding Tahno to the group would have been a great way to explore the spiritual aspects of bending (something that was supposed to be a theme of season one that feel short) and better explore the psychological aspects of losing one's bending.
In addition, bending is not something you instantly master when you discover you have it. It takes a lot of work to master it too.
Sorry if I went off on a tangent, but I think including Tahno in more episodes might have benefited the narrative of the show. Also, while Tahno was a jerk he did actually get punished for it.

Yeah, but Zuko never cheated- he fought with Honor, and he was just angry and confused. (kinda traumatized by living with a F***ed up family)
Tahno has no honor, he fights dirty for fame and glory, and he's kinda a pervy little creep.

The thing with that, is that Zuko was never a lying, conniving, cheating, slimy weasel. He was never really a bad guy - he was misguided and very much abused. All he really wanted in the long-run was to regain his honor and get his father's faith and love. Heck yeah, he was a top-of-the-line jerkbender, but because he wasn't really an evil guy, he came around.
Tahno's just "a nasty dude" xD
But I adore him. I'm kind of hoping that maybe in season two we'll see more of him.
I want him to join Team Avatar as the second nonbender, with Asami - kind of like Sokka and Suki, but minus the romance.

Well, I love Zuko. But I still don't exactly like Tahno. He did cheat and he was a humongous jerk and I was really happy when Korra kicked his butt. I felt sorry for him when he lost his bending but I don't like him, nor will I ever, possible. Zuko and Tahno may have tiny simalities, but I don't think it's right to compare them like their twins.

I'm sorry, but Zuko and Tahno's situations are not even a little alike. I'm not saying he can't redeem himself like Zuko did, but Zuko was angry about losing his father's respect. Tahno is kind of a cocky jackass (probably not so much now, though). We'll see how it turns out, but it's just not the same as Zuko.
