Runes are an intelligent species who have built up their civilization around the 4 elements, Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. These elements date back to the beginning of Aether, (their planet), Though they know only the tip of the iceberg in terms of their past, they diligently search for signs and relics of the past in order to learn precious pieces of it and the secrets of their beginnings.

Aside from researching their past, there are billions of jobs and tasks that consume this intelligent species' lives. From sciences and literature to business and the arts, there are thousands upon thousands of areas of interest for everyone to find their particular niche.

Their civilization could be compared easily to the Edo period of Japan. A time where everyone had a place in society, though, economic growth is booming, and the sciences are at a time of great discoveries.

Runes come in two forms, their feral form, and their anthro form. Both forms are used equally in most cases, though there is some separation for society for those who demand to be in feral form at all times. Much like nudist colonies, they are socially frowned upon, though unlike nudist colonies, the number of runes in these societies are great.

Scent is an important part of the Rune society, you see, each Rune has their own unique scent or musk. The scent is always a good one, so scents like garbage or skunk are none existent. Scents like pineapple, berries, oranges, citrus, sugary sweets, like cinnamon rolls or cookies and cakes, even natural scents like fresh rain, mountain breezes are acceptable. These scents play a huge roll in mating. Scents between Runes mix to become new scents, they help to attract one another, bring up memories through familiar scent, and to even help young runes to recognize their family and mothers.
