Really looking forward to seeing Zootopia in theaters; it really begs the question of 'what if actual anthromorphs existed in the modern day and how they could co-exist with each other'?

Oh Darkspeeds. Β I usually check out the coloring book section to determine if a kid's film is worth watching (Shrek 4 was not) but we love the character animation too much to spoil the movie with junior novelizations. Β Excited that you get to see the film on this side of the pond. Β Hope you enjoy, I"m sure we all will.

I was hanging around with my little nephew at the local Target store that day (my sister came over for Chinese New Year from Singapore), and while I was window shoppin' I couldn't help but spot Zootopia in the books section. There were a choice of 3 other franchised items (one of them you already mentioned - colouring book), followed by an activity book and the novelised book with the front cover as the only illustration.
I had a quick browse through the other three but later approached this particular book - I couldn't help but satisfy my curiosity of the quality of the illustrations - to my surprise they were simply brilliant.
Usually the heavily commercialised picture books of popular films are done in a radically different style altogether - perhaps for gimmicky purposes to attract the younger audience, and I've seen some of them to my personal dissatisfaction, e.g. when I was in Mexico back in 2013 and Monsters University was a hit in America, the picture book was too abstract for my taste!). But in this case I was very pleased with my purchase - I mean, come on, how can you go wrong with a pricetag of $5 AUD (costs only a cup of coffee in the States)?Β
Each illustration in the book complimented the narrative with great thought, it made me wonder how the artist/illustrator processed their decision in picking that one shot for that section of text to keep the plot moving. Without spoiling too much here are some samples - check out the details, colour and composition on these! ^^
Β
My favourites go to the scenes that had a turning point to the story, I recommend you get this book at your local store when you get the chance!
You guys are gonna love the story, expect the twist towards the end, or perhaps it's just something that you'll easily figure out as you follow the footprints hidden in the landscape.
And now that I know the story I get to watch the film with an artist's eye - to study and embrace the visual quality of the pictures and how it compliments the plot and armature to Zootopia! Eeeeee! Can't wait!! X3
Oh and before I head off to work, once again, love your illustration of Judy Hopps, those ears really accentuate her expressions!
