Fly or no fly, a safety cushion would have been good to have. As children, we seem to forgo critical thinking and common sense for the sake of our self-esteem (to prove our worth), no matter what.
Actually, the same is true for the rest of our adulthood. Guess the difference, in this case, is that we are usually more aware of the consequences but make stupid decisions anyway. Go figure.

Pffffft. I blame business English classes. My sentences still have a variety of small grammatical errors that my instructor would have flagged on my assignments.
