Your attention to detail and fantastic story telling always blows me away. So much said with so few words. This story with Vanth is a prime example of what I really like about Dreamkeepers. When I first saw her, I questioned her ability to write or hold objects with those wings. I simply dismissed it with cartoon logic (it works just because).
Now you created a short story that explores her predicament with having wings. What was probably a quick "She looks cool, let's make her a side character" idea turned into an elaborate struggle with a disability. Her desperation for flight is driven by the need to make her hands useful.

I think so- they'd need custom padding, heavy impacts would actually carry a high risk of fracturing her fingers without some serious engineering to protect them. Β They're not terribly thin, but they're Β just so long.

i've noticed how like the purple characters are the craziest throughout DreamKeepers ouo (don't know if the two brothers who were "stomped" by Grunn count tho...

Now this is just silly buns; if the Dreamkeepers are skilled enough to make unique clothing for every single DK in Auduruna, craft firearms, AND build a giant phallic into the sky, I would at least think they would have come up with a way to adapt data scrolls (and door knobs for christ sake!) specs to specific Dreamkeepers like Vanth or Whip...
...and yet they don't...

She has her mothers eyes and ears, but where did she get her wings?Β her dad don't have wings.Β or maybe genetics does not apply with Dreamkeepers?

Correct- genetics don't really apply to Dreamkeepers. Β The idea is that the characters are a reflection of our subconscious and our personality. Β Often we carry personality traits from our parents- and so those Dreamkeepers have some visual elements that line up. Β Β But its also fully possible for a person to be totally different out of left field, so a Dreamkeeper kid can look like pretty much anything. Β

Call me a nitpicker, but in a world where (possibly) every real life species is anthropomorphised, and where they have advanced stuff such as data scrolls, wouldn't they have invented a scroll with special adaptations for bats and such? Or at least speech recognition? Oh, and that round doorhandle is just cruel... And is that a grape-poster I spy on the door?

It would make sense for them to have voice-controlled data scroll applications, but I don't think those apps work well enough to be widespread yet. Β Otherwise lots of characters would probably use a voice interface, just for convenience. Β It's possible they've tried them before, but they're too glitchy. Β
...And yeah, the door handle really could be better. Β The parents ought to have replaced it by now, but I think deep down maybe they like being in charge of their kid. Β
It's close, actually- the poster is for poots! Β They're this collectible tradeable toy fad in Anduruna. Β It doesn't show well here, but the caption on the poster says "Have Some All."

Wow, so Vanth grew up in an upper-middle class family in a fairly fancy house that looks like it's made out of flo-wood (can't be cheap), had a demanding mother, and took singing lessons (presumably because you can't play an instrument with wings). I have to say, this really isn't the backstory I imagined for someone who would eventually get caught up in a gang. Also, small nitpick; where did the scroll go in that bottom frame?

I originally questioned how Vanth could write with her wings and assumed cartoon logic to explain it. This proves otherwise.
In the second panel, she's trying to open a scroll. Scrolls are flexible iPads and she wants to talk to her friend Harmony (the bug). She can't operate the device/do homework without normal fingers or apposable thumbs. That's why her mom says she'll type in the answers for her.
Vanth might as well been born without arms instead of useless wings. Her desperation for flight is driven by the uselessness of her hands.
The next page might show a clever way to get around her disability.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Yeah, I see now. That's tough. Maybe I'll read through Volume 3 again to see if she uses a method to get around it that I may have missed. I'm actually hoping that she's figured out flight in the time between Prelude and the Graphic Novel Saga. They said her wings would never be able to displace enough air to lift her body into flight, but real-life scientists said the same thing about the bee, and look at them. Good eye, I was kind of confused at that whole exchange.

Actually, scientists worked out the trick that bees pull. They bend their wings backwards on the reverse stroke, which gives them double the lift.
I'm not sure how that would help Vanth, but there's probably another way.
