I just realized Nainso looks like he could be related to Mace.

We're hoping for more tutorials in the future, and character design would be a fine choice to discuss. Just for now, pay attention to the silhouettes of your characters and keep them unique from eachother. This might determine their sizes in comparison, not everyone should be five foot five. Secondly, we use color swatches that our unique to each character. Whip and Wisp are both a light blue, but I can look at a dot of color and tell who's is who's. So there's that to keep in mind. We luck out that a dreamkeeper can be any size and color. Working in ancient Rome with all humans would present more of a challenge.

Well, it's a huge topic, one quick - select a directly different trait of personality (attitudes) for each character and once there's a strong personality, you can work in different subtle directions. Here's a link that might be useful: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDalqW… That's Dave's advice, hopefully future tutorials will shed more light on the subject to come. I say, keep a notebook (in your place, one in your car, one with you) and when you think of something specific to a character write it down on designated pages. You can mix them around then, and make sure your quote or thought goes to the right character when you want to use it.

I love Nainso because he is such a gosh-danged nerd. I mean, he gets into fights scathing disputes with the Tower librarian and he fusses over art, so...
Well, at least recent events have gotten some kind of reaction out of the Viscount. I'm actually rather impressed.

So Nainso was a lot higher up on the totem pole before the events of the main story. Interesting. I wonder what train of events bridges the gap between here and there.
On a side note, if that's what it takes to break Nainso's composure we totally need a scene in a future volume where the nightmares attack an art museum and he goes absolutely berserk.
