Description So amid all the other stuff I need to get done, my muse finally took ahold of me and convinced me I hadn't done art "for me" in way, way too long (or any art, really), and thus, probably inspired in part by Cavalia , I give you "Dancer in a Daydream," for so said my muse to craft.

It is small (6 inches by 4 inches) sketch and was done in graphite and white colored pencil, and I'm well aware I should have used a lot more in the way of references, but I'm pretty pleased with it. The scan above is about twice the actual size. While it's wonderful to do fantasy art, I found trying to get a horse register as a "horse" and a human to references as such was a lot more difficult than I recall.

About an hour and fifteen minutes from start to finish.

This is for sale if anyone is interested.

Have a great morning!

fecking hell one copyright thing is enough don't you think? You've made it look so cheap and manufactured with all the writing across it, pick one and stick with it!

Other than that it was a real good picture, lovely flow.

Only one lays overtop the image. Artists do as they must to protect their art from unauthorized reproduction, but as this is simply a sketch, well. ^_~

Glad you like the flow though. ^_^

it doesn't matter where it is if its still in the picture, you should know that as an artist, people see entire pictures and can't seperate individual bits, and all that writing is leading the eye in the wrong direction and turning it into somthing elce.

I understand you feel you need some sort of way of stoping it being stolen but you don't need that much.. Personally it's never somthing i felt keen on, I never really needed credit for anything, people can steal it if they want, it'll mean it's getting out there, but I totally understand other people's desire to hold onto ownership of somthing they are proud of.

Well, if you look at most of my other pieces, there's not as much writing:

https://www.deviantart.com/view/11657562/

This one is just tiny, and had my real signature and title of the piece already on it. ^_~ I sell a lot of art as it is (commission, originals, the whole deal) and have never had a problem with major theft issues since I started using more prominant watermarks.

Each to his or her own, I suppose, but since people online get to see my artwork free of charge, and because I've had issues in the past that ended up involving lawyers (which cost me money: imagine, a lack of watermarking my own work online led me to spending money out of pocket), it's the only way I feel comfortable displaying my artwork online at the present time. Now I keep my name and website in a readable area in a corner, and a watermark over the image itself. It's not perfect protection, but if it makes me comfortable, it's very, very worth it.

Hope that explaination helps.

That kind of thing like what you linked me too is much better, it doesn't take from the image at all.

That is very pretty! I love it. Did you do that on tan paper or did you just on a program?

It's on a kind of sandy-colored paper. The grain and color are the actual paper (and I simply ADORE toned paper like this! I should use it more often!)

Thanks for the comment!

Actually, on this one I didn't really reference from photos, I did, however, try to locate a photo of a person's face in that position without any luck. I definitely need to get back to looking up anatomicaly references in my horses and humans, though (my lack of knowledge shows!).

Thanks for the comments!
